are pandas bears?

Are pandas bears?
Giant pandas are biologically unique. They are classified as bears, but unlike other bears, cannot store enough body fat to hibernate.

And what's a red panda?
I thought pandas were only black and white.Red pandas, despite the name, are in the raccoon family and have rusty coloration and long tails. Like the giant panda, they also have opposable thumbs and live on a diet dominated by bamboo.

Is the giant panda a type of bear?
The giant panda is a relative of the bear. More and more researchers agree that the giant panda should be classified as a member of the bear family.

bread and roti

hmmm...

Day started off with my dad waking me up cos it was already 730 am! He presumed I was running late for work. But...but ...it is SUNDAY!!

After that got a message from Joyce that perhaps I could attend the 1115 service at church so that we could meet after her duty at children's church. I instead went at my usual time and met Joyce at the convention centre. We walked and shopped a bit before going to the car. Next stop was Simply Bread at Robertson Quay. Joyce finally got to try the ciabatta with garlic. It was toasted first and maybe they were a bit stingy with the tuna so it din come out as good as we expected. My egg mayo sandwich was fortunately better.

After lunch we drove around a bit before deciding to adjourne to my place until about 5 pm. whilst we were taking a well deserved nap, dad came a-knocking at the door with a bowl of freshly fried papadum! I think he suffers from bad timing and low EQ at times. We were asleep and I had to wake up to answer the door. Not only that he kept insisting that i bring the whole bowl into the room to eat although all we wanted to do was rest a bit before going for DINNER at 6. To get rid of him I took the bowl into the room and placed it on my PC desk and went back to sleep. I ate one later on when we woke up and placed the rest in the microwave. It is not that I dun like the thought or papadums for that matter, just that it was the wrong thing at the wrong time. *yawn*

After that we both drove our individual cars to Joyce's place. There Joyce came over to mine and we drove to Marsiling to buy prata for Cherry's farewell dinner thingy. Although she only leaves at the end of the month and there is still plenty of time to catch up till then. The prata thing was kinda disorganised but in the end we got our pratas and the correct change.

We then drove to Cherry's place. We were the first there and had a little difficulty locating the place as Joyce had misread the unit number. Later on Brenda, Kenny and Felicia came along with their food as well. They had bought bee hoon, kway teow and satay. Jinlong joined us even later with some fruits. As usual the conversation quickly reverted from english to mandarin. So too did the programming on the telly. Then I remembered why I dun like hanging out with Joyce's friends. I really do think it is rude when people speak mandarin in my presence knowing I can't speak or understand most times. Most times I just grin and bear with it. But I think it is inconsiderate when most of them with the exception of Kenny have a good grasp of english so saying that they are comfortable in mandarin does not exactly hold much water. So for much of the evening I just sat around and watched TV (reading the subtitles since even the channels were askewed towards the chinese majority) as the rest chatted and waxed nostalgic about the 'old days'.

After dinnner....sent Joyce home.

random ramblings

are pandas and koalas bears? nope!

got a call from Jackies home number again today. she will probably say it wasn't her again...

Going to Cherry Tin's house. sort of a farewell thingy. she going to australia for bible school and hopefully find a husband. Joyce holds Cherry in high esteem. To me she is just an uptight pain in the arse.Much to Joyce's chagrin I came up with a few names for Cherry's kids.

- Kara Tin (keratine..geddit?)
- Biscuit Tin
- Milo Tin (ya know Milo is a greek god?)
- Very Tin (not fat either)
- Madeof Tin
- Tiny Tin
- Empty Tin
- Rin Tin Tin
- Pushing Tin (something for someone in the aeronautics field)

My phone goes off sometimes when someone calls in or sends me a message. Gotta get it checked out soon...

speaking of problems with electronic communication devices; my cordless phone at home is faulty. solution: see above

Seriously considering joining as a SAFRA member.

Gotta remember to transfer the cash to Joyce's account tomorrow. ...

Really enjoy being with Camou on runs. He is not unlike me. Roaming free. As the wind. Not quite.
Had a great time the other day at Lower Pierce. We ran like lunatics. Even chased a few joggers and a troop of monkeys (actually Camou with me in tow).

Had a hard time today with the transferance of pics from my PC to my phone.Grrr...spoilt my whole mood in the afternoon.

My song of the week: If I Ain't Got You

Some people live for the fortune
Some people live just for the fame
Some people live for the power, yeah
Some people live just to play the game
Some people think that the physical things define what’s within
And I been there before but that’s life’s a bore, so full of the superficial
Chorus:
Some people want it all, but I don’t want nothing at all
If it aint you baby, if I aint got you baby
Some people want diamond rings, some just want everything
But everything means nothing if I aint got you, yeah
Some people search for a fountain
The promise is forever young
(You know) Some people need 3 dozen roses
And that’s the only way to prove you love them
Hand me the world on a silver platter
And what, what would it be?
With no one to share with no one who truly cares for me
Chorus:
Some people want it all, but I don’t want nothing at all
If it aint you baby, if I aint got you baby
Some people want diamond rings, some just want everything
But everything means nothing if I aint got you, you, you
Some people want it all, but I don’t want nothing at all
If it aint you baby, if I aint got you baby
Some people want diamond rings, some just want everything
But everything means nothing if I aint got you, yeah
If aint got you with me baby, ohh, ooo
Say nothing in this whole wide world don’t mean a thing
If I aint got you with me bab

shopping for a home

After her work, picked Joyce from Sun Plaza. We then went to my place. We intended to view a couple of showflats in the Upper Bukit Timah area. ...

.

The Linear was not too far from MINDEF hence the height restrictions. The building is so named because it resembles an elongated box. The closest approximation I can make is to the airport or tanah merah MRT stations. You know.....long....saucer like design....

We had the usual show-around the various room models and all and even talked to the sales rep about the installment schemes.Bwaahaaaa...

Second stop was gardenvista. I kinda liked the 2 room apartments.

After that we went to Simply Bread at Guthries House for dinner. Joyce loves ciabatta and Simply Bread's bread is simply the best (pun intended). But the ciabattas were out of stock. So we instead walked around to the coffee shop nearby and ordered wan ton noodles and dry prawn noodles.

After dinner we filled up Sunny at the SPC near my place before sending her (Joyce ...not Sunny) home.

I realised on my way back that the u-turn at Canberra Road was closed off so I had to make a long detour around Admiralty Road-Wooodlands Ave 12-SLE to get home.In the end it took me nearly 1/2 an hour to do what normally takes 10 to 15 mins at most to get home.

13 going on 30

Watched it with Joyce.

Was really good except for the 'happy ever after' ending. Jennifer Garner is really great in the role. She looks to be the next Julia Roberts.

About a 13 year old who wishes to be 30 (duh!). In the end she learns how the decision she made at age 13 affects others and how being 'cool' is not everything.
