me blog

Been hard to keep up blogging lately after I came back from my self-imposed hiatus. Part lack of motivation, part lack of subjects to blog about (not!) and part the lack of time(apparently).

Been wanting to meet up with Natt for a while now. Maybe next week. Maybe Agnes can join us.

Gonna meet up with my pesky insurance adviser next week also.

Gonna pay a visit to Bukit Batok nature reserve soon. And this time I am gonna bring my camera (and company, hopefully).

Bought some stones and artificial plants for my room tank. Probably gonna do it up over the weekend if time permits.

Poh and Lyn's ROM is this weekend. Yayyyyyy!!

I hate what they are doing to Marina South now. Was there with Agnes the other day. The place is being developed. The place holds lots of memories for me and Agnes among others. It looks and smells bad now. May be due in part also to the recent Powerboat thingy there last month. sigh.

Hurt my back doing the weights. Ouch. Must remember not to strain myself so much. It is better now but still a tad sore at parts.

Must endeavour to blog at least once every 2 days. Even a few inane lines will do.

Gonna post up the pics from Leo's birthday celebration at Marina South.

Noel is back from his harrowing Bali trip. Must interview him.

My guitar classes are nearly over. 8 classes. Attended 6. One 'extra' class more to go. And I seem no closer to realising my hope of ever playing a guitar than I was 8 weeks ago. maybe I do know a little, but I still can't play a tune to save my life.

I have this thing where I rotate the disc in my CD changer in the car. You know...like rock songs...and then gospel/christian contemporary music...and then love songs... or just have it 100% U2 once in a while. Anyway...the set I wanna put in now is the heavy rock one. Metallica... Guns & Roses... LIVE...and every other hard hitting CD I can find in my collection.

Watched The Corpse Bride. It was fun in the end, I was kinda skeptical at first of watching it . You can say I am not exactly the biggest Tim Burton fan. But it was a good story. In fact it was kind of sad how it ended. A flim to watch if you like dark humour.

Also watched The Dukes of Hazzard. It will not garner an Oscar, but it is one of those guilty pleasure sort films that anyone who enjoyed the series should catch. The chase scenes are good. But the real star is not the General Lee but Daisy Dukes. I do not think anyone coulda taken the role and made it her own quite like Jessica Simpson. She just does it so well. She may be a one trick pony for all we know, but I think a star is born!

Psalms 91

Psalms 91.
You can see it on the right side of my page.
These are the verses I choose to live my life by.
They speak of God's protection and providence in our times of need.
Whenever troubles or trials come my way I take these words to my heart.
It is never easy to put your trust fully in God's hands and to not rely on human understanding and effort.
For such times as these.
As nature wrecks havoc on lives the world over.
As man kills man in the name of religion.
As new diseases and viruses come to the fore.
As life in general becomes more stressful, more pointless and find all your strength is gone...

Here and Now..

It is one thing to read about it in the newspapers or to see it on TV. It is quite another thing when it happens to you or those around you. You read in the news about the rising number of dengue cases in Singapore. You feel for those affected and their families. But when my mum and brother came down ill last week we feared the worst. They were hardly able to get out of bed and even ran fevers. The hardest part was that it takes 5 days to know for sure if one has contracted dengue fever. So it was nerve-wrecking to say the least for those few days to say the least. In the end it was nothing.

And then there is the Bali bombings of yesterday. Acts of terrorism in all its forms are deplorable. Especially in idyllic Bali whose only crime was that many Australians go there. Just in case you are wondering how that relates to what I am talking about, my brother Noel was over there the last few days. He was to host a show over there over the weekend for a client. He had been to some of the places that were bombed only hours before. We got the news as we were having dinner last night at Sembawang. It really put a dampener on the occasion. My mum literally broke down and wept upon hearing the news at the table. With such acts of terror you never quite know if that was the end of things are just merely the beginning with more attacks to follow. So it was a long, restless night in our home. We kept our eyes to the screen just needing to know who was hurt and developments if any in the whole thing. Noel is still over there but knowing him, he is probably affected by all that is going on around him there.

I guess it really hits home when someone you love and care about is involved in something of this nature and all you can do is ...'wait',.... 'hope' and ....'pray'.
