Some of the other pictures from my KL trip are also ready. I will post the link and samples here in due course...

new stuff

As you can see...I have adopted a tiger, imaginatively named Cubby the tiger. Do play with him. He loves to play as all cubby tigers do. I had wanted a tortoise or a dog, but they ran out of stock for tortoises and the dog was too un-doggy-like.

Also I added music to this site as I did for the other one. The song of choice is The Distance by Evan and Jaron

The sky has lost its color
The sun has turned to grey
At least that's how it feels to me
Whenever you're away

I crawl up in the corner
As I watch the minutes pass
Each one brings me closer to
The time when you'll be back
You're coming back

I can't take the distance
I can't take the miles
I can't take the time
Until the next time I see you smile
I can't take the distance
And I'm not ashamed
That I can't take a breath whitout saying your name
But I can't take the distance

I can brave a hurricane
And still be standing tall
when all the dust has settled down
But I can't take the distance

I still believe in feelings
But sometimes I feel too much
I make believe you're close to me
But it ain't close enough
Not nearly close enough

I can't take the distance
I can't the miles
I can't take the time
until the next time I see you smile
I can't take the distance
And I'm not ashamed
That I can't take a breath
without saying your name

I can brave a hurricane
And still be standing tall
when all the dust has settled down
I can't take the distance
I can't take the miles
I can't take the time
until the next time I see you smile
I can't take the distance
And I'm not ashamed
That I can't take a breath without saying your name

And I can't take the distance
The distance

Kinda mirrors how I feel sometimes...

Dar...turn on your speakers!

Yesterday went down to pick up my baby from her place. We then headed to The Esplanade where she wanted to book the practice room at the library@esplanade. It only cost$6 for an hour. Not only that, the practice room affords a nice view of marina bay. The only downside to it is that the room is not soundproof and that people can look into the room from the outside. Not quite the set up if you are one of those who suffers from stage fright and acnnot bear scrutiny.
After the esplanade we headed to Plaza Singapura where Agnes went to look for her book for her upcoming piano exam. It seems that the particular book of exam pieces is out of stock islandwide. We then walked about the building a bit including going to Carrefour to buy Agnes's Green tea.
After that we headed home to 'get something' before heading out for dinner. I had a craving for black pepper crab. So we headed to Joo Chiat where I knew a couple of places that sold good crab. The one I wanted to go to (Eng Seng)was kinda empty which only meant that the crab must have been sold out (we had got there about 8 I think). The crabs sold there sell out rather fast. Normally people queue up from 5.30 just to be amongst the first to be in line. So we drove around abit until we got to the end of Joo Chiat Rd near Katong Mall. We ate at Crabs & More instead.

They serve an amazing 20 different varieties of crab!

I must say I rather enjoyed the meal, as Agnes dutifully observed. It came up to nearly $58 which would be considered money well spent. Maybe next time we go to Eng Seng.

After dinner we took a walk along Joo Chiat Rd until we came to near the 'seedier' side of it. We then turned back as I did not feel comfortable bringing my darling to such places.

We headed back to Sunny and then took a drive to the airport. We walked around as usual and then stopped by the Burger King for our now-customary tea.

Went home.

Outrage in the Muslim World

In September a danish newspaper published a series of caricatures which also depicted the Prophet Mohammed with a bomb shaped turban. Understandably muslims the world over were upset. But there are ways and means to express outrage.
Attacking embassies, bomb threats and violence against foreigners do not constitute the right way. In fact it only helps to perpetuate the myth that Islam only knows to express itself through the barrel of a gun. The caricatures in themselves were admittedly in bad taste, but I think greater harm has been done to the image of Islam and the teachings of the Great Prophet by the actions of those who claim to be outraged by the cartoons. When we will learn that violence never solves anything, and in this case only gives more ammo to the very people who hold misguided notions about Islam and what it espouses.

another untitled entry

Funny how things never end up how we thought them to be
Silly how we let life slip through our fingers
What was once promise has now faded away
Feel so helpless, feel so hopeless

It was only my mistake, one mistake
Should never have let him do the things he did to me
Never should have fallen into his guilty trips
Made me feel smaller than I was

Now I am left here all alone
This life inside of me grows
My life getting smaller and smaller
Or so it seems
Oh, how low have I fallen?

Nothing makes sense anyway
Do not know what to do or what to say
Paying the price for a mistake not mine alone
All whom I thought were friends desert me in the end

I lose my strength,I lost myself
Somewhere along the way
Looking forward to the brand new day
As I lay my weary soul down to pray
Wish it was still my yesterday

My dreams I still dream
To the places I may have been
Things my own eyes have seen
Wonder what it all means in the end

Now I have to go
And dream my life up all over again
Wipe away the pain in these eyes
Or at least make a try

This life inside of me
Will someday be better than me
Be all the things that I wanted to be
Life still goes on even if we do not want it to
All because of you, all because of...you

sleepy thursday

It has been a sleepy week thus far. After the long CNY weekend, it is a real bore to have to turn up for work. The worst part(or best part depending on which side of the fence you sit on) is that many of the traders and companies are still closed, so business is slow this week. That makes time pass by ever so slowly.

Being today Khimster is on urgent leave,I have the time to do my own stuff. But even then it is not much fun. Grr! Cannot win either way. Either have to do too much or having too little to do.

Met Agnes yesterday after work. After work I had headed down to IMM. I walked a bit and then bought some food from Long John Silver's. I then brought whatever it was I had bought to Agnes's place. We hung around there a bit doing some work and having our dinner.
Sent her home thereafter.

This gonna be one of those post about nothing in particular and where I go on a tangent, where no one really gets what I trying to say.

On Tuesday Agnes and I finally met up and we went to the Flower festival on Sentosa. It was ok. Nothing great. The worst part was all the crowds. Especially those inconsiderate aunties with their big umbrellas. They look like crap and still they carry around these umbrellas hoping that deadly sun rays do not penetrate upon their skin. The paths are rather narrow as it is, a situation made worse by all these umbrella totting aunties. We also managed to take some pictures at the nearby Lost Civilisations and Ruined City. Will post them as soon as I post them.

Stayed home most of Monday.

On Sunday went service and then dinner at Agne's place.

Saturday: reunion dinner at Agnes's place. Had steamboat in a rice cooker! I should seriously consider getting a real steamboat(or BBQ steamboat) for them next year.

Have to attend a service excellence thingy on 16th. Should be fun to be away from office. Only thing is I have no idea who else is attending. Dunno if have any kaki or not.

21st and 22nd have a defensive driving course at bukit batok. Going with Wong and Lyn. Should be fun. Sin only had good things to say about the course when he attended it.

Bought new bed sheets! Yippie. I love new bed sheets. One of my hobbies although not a hobby I cultivate much. Think one of those I got was in the form of chickens. The other had a tortoise/turtle motif. Not as childish-looking as one would think. But I have different taste than the general populace..

Added music to Love Divine site. It is 'Untitled' by Simple Plan. One of Agnes's favourite songs...

Also this site has undergone yet another makeover. Many of the links have been made 'picture-less' so the page loads faster. Also many new links have been added. Some dead links have also been updated .

Since it is the Year of the Dog it is timely for some poochie humour:

Terrier + Bichon Frise = Terrierise: a dog you need to watch for violent behaviour

Doberman + Poodle = Doodle: a dog that’s easy to draw

Labrador Retriever + Curly Coated Retriever = Lab Coat Retriever: the favourite of Biopolis research scientists

Terrier + Bulldog = Terribull: not a very nice dog

Pekinese + Bulldog = Peekabull: a dog that likes to play hide and seek

Cocker Spaniel + Doberman + Poodle = Cockadoodle: a dog that can be a bit chicken

Spitz + Chow Chow = Spitz-Chow: a dog that throws up a lot

Collie + Malamute = Commute: a dog that travels to work every day

Weimaraner + Neapolitan Mastiff + Poodle = Wei-Nea the Poo: the puppy who likes hunny in his tummy

Bull Terrier + Shih-tzu = Uh, never mind....

Chihuahua + Basset Hound + Irish Setter = Eh! This is a family website, ok!

Chow Chow + Chihuahua + Basset Hound + Irish Setter = Oi! I said stop it!

and a picture for those of you into such things:

Since I am doing this during office hours and using office computers, these are some things I should look out for(just in case)if my boss is keeping tabs on me:

Wherever you go you're followed by a potted plant in loafers.

The bracelet he gave you for Christmas blinks if you leave your work station/ cubicle.

Your name,"Leon." Next to your parking spot: "Reserved for the guy following Leon"

Your new secretary looks a lot like that chick from "Alias"

Instead of photos of wife and kids on his desk, he has a photo of you sleeping.

When you're alone in the men's room, a voice tells you to quit blocking the lens.

There seem to be a blinking red light inside the smoke detector.

The fax machine just coughed.
