strength in weakness

This Friday is Deepavali. How nice it would have been to take advantage of the super long weekend to go for a trip behind these shores. But alas Agnes has her school things to do. But we will probably be taking a short trip at years end before she starts her new job at HSA. There has aso been talk of a trip with the girls to Taman Negara around Xmas. That is tentative depending on first whether Agnes has finished her work, and then whether I am able to procure leave for those dates and then lastly whether we would really wanna go to Taman Negara in the first place. There is a distinct possibility that Mz will join us as WL is going. So that is a definite bummer. But rather unavoidable under the circumstances.
All things considered Agnes and myself may be better off planning our own trip rather than going with the girls for what should be a back-to-nature sort trip. With lots of trekking, mosquitoes, sweating and dorm like living arrangements. I think our concept of a holiday at this point is fun and relaxation, as opposed to excitement and adventure.

Bringing down the bunnies to the vet on Wednesday. Just a check up on their general health and well being. will check out with the vet regarding Tuffy's 'pregnancy', get Fluffy's hinds treated and Tuffy's right eye checked out. From there maybe can decide what to do next as far as spaying and neutering goes.
By my estimation the 2 girls (Scruffy and Tuffy) should be going next to be done. Then Fluffy after.

Been working out lately over the last couple of days. People been saying I have lost weight (much to Agnes's disbelief for some reason). Must be all the fasting I did during Ramadan. Missed a number of meals then that may have contributed to my weight loss.
Anyway, I am looking to regain some muscle mass and at least get in shape in the longer term. Hopefully I can maintain my discipline to follow this thing through to its logical conclusion.

The jay Chou concert thingy..

we been unable to secure any tickets from the SISTIC site. A real bummer that almost all the tickets were already snapped up for both dates by OCBC card members. Leaving just mere scraps for the rest of us non-OCBC card toting Singaporeans.
So we may have to resort to buying tickets on the 'black market'. I seen a number of choice tickets already up for purchase over the last few days. But the prices have been on the steep side to say the least. But money should not be the only consideration under the circumstances...

Just amazes me still how the music videos from my Israel trip is still continuing to bless people in so many ways.....

even my pictures....

John Rambo

the movie is coming out soon. and what a timely one it is too. In it a retired Rambo is sick of war but is forced to take up arms once more to rescue a group of human rights missionary friends who have been captured and are being tortured by the ruthless military regime in Burma (or Myanmar as we call it now). In the light of recent events, it sure cuts close to the bone of current affairs. Amazing how 2 of Stallone's most enduring franchises are still somehow still so relevant to the times. brilliant...

+ ++ + ++ + + ++ + + ++

Spent near $700 on Sunny alone this month. And still Sunny somehow contrived to fail his annual vehicle inspection test due to excessive carbon monoxide. will probably look to go again sometime this week or weekend for a re-test. And if all goes well, then it boils down to getting the vehicle insurance (about $500 based on last years), and road tax ($600 for half a year).
Oh..did I mention that oil prices are at an all time high? Looks like owning a car just got more expensive...

++++++ +++++ +++++ +++++ +++++

someone been a tad bit too touchy-feelly I been told.

This Saturday we be having a BBQ at my place. I think it is for Noel's birthday. Wonder if wifey dearest be free to join us this round.

old things pass away, all things become new

Got a year older, and hopefully a year wiser as well.
Had a birthday lunch at Jack's Place at Compass Point with the folks and Ant. Ordered my favourite sambal steak.
Then for dinner I met with with Agnes and headed to Hard Rock Cafe.Being that it was also Halloween the place was decked out and the staff were dressed in all manner of scary costumes. There was even a contest of Scariest Dressed Staff. All in all was a memorable day.
After dinner we headed home and Agnes met our latest additions to the family...

Fluffy and Tuffy

Fluffy and Tuffy were found abandoned at my office. No idea why anyone would abandon 2 such beautiful creatures. When we first discovered the pair they were in a bad state, especially Fluffy.

P1100297

Tuffy has what seems like an eye infection which has gradually gotten better. Fluffy on the other hand seems to have injured both her rear legs. There is no fur and the skin underneath seems sore. Have to bring them both to the vet to get these checked out.
Tuffy has also displayed nest building habits. Tuffy was seen carrying hay, cardboard and chewing fur to place in the nest box.Nest building is indicative of pregnancy or just a false pregnancy. Tuffy does not show that she is carrying by external appearances, but appearances can be deceiving.

My 2 mums gave me $$$ for my birthday. My darling on the other hand bought me a Deuter backpack.

.........................

There is now a second Jay Chou concert scheduled for 18th January!
We will be trying to procure tickets as soon as they are released to the public.
Being that it is also JC's birthday on the 18th, I am sure we will be seeing guest appearances and special items as well.

So its a long tentative wait until Monday when we can start to buy the tickets of whats left after the priority bookings are done.
Meanwhile we can decide what seats to get. We would have plumped for the $198 tickets but that is rather expensive by any standards. So we have to see how things go.Seems like the $138 tickets afford a better view than the $168 ones despite being cheaper though.

Preview of the big matches this weekend.

ARSENAL VS MANCHESTER UNITED

A top of the table clash. Arsenal are top of the table with a game in hand by virtue of goal difference. Two teams that play exciting attacking football. Should be a blast no matter what happens. A fixture will have a bearing on the destination of the EPL trophy no matter what the managers say.

prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Manchester
The Gunners have made the Emirates a fortress and are in such a good vein of form that Man U have to play above and beyond themselves if they hope to get anything out of this fixture, and hope that Arsenal's key players are having an off day. Not likely.

MIDDLESBROUGH vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS

Juande Ramos now really starts his tenure as manager of under-performing Spurs with a match against hapless Middlesbrough. After their confidence-building exploits against Blackpool, Spurs should be on the up as far as performances go. Be interesting to see what changes have been rung at White Hart Lane.

Prediction: Borough 1-2 Spurs
Middlesborough have been unimpressive all season long, and it looks like their misery is not about to end in this match. Spurs pick up valuable away points.

BLACKBURN VS LIVERPOOL

Liverpool have been described as a club in crisis. Interesting since they have advanced in the League Cup, still stand a mathematical chance in the Champions League, and are a mere 6 points off the pace with a game in hand on Manchester United. But the truth be said after their bright start, The Reds have not been running on all cylinders. Ewood Park is always a tough place to get points. But Liverpool and Rafa Benitez did not become a bad overnight. With Torres and Alonso out injured inspiration has to come from elsewhere on the park. Steven Gerard seems to be slowly returning to form as his influence seems to be on the up in recent matches.

prediction: Blackburn 1-1 Liverpool
A keenly fought match with it ending all square at the end of the 90 minutes.

Been thinking....

That this window in the living room, we can put a window unit air-con since this window does not serve any purpose.

P1100173

will serve to cool the living room area when entertaining guests and maybe even dry clothing hung outside.
