Cellular review (no spoilers...sort of..)
Watched it yesterday.Alone...I might add.
The plot may be a bit far fetched but it was one great roller-coaster ride nonetheless. Chris Evans, Kim Basinger(Jessica) and William H. Macy put up great performances.Jason Statham was suitable intense as the villian of the piece (a little Shakespearean there).
Chris Evans as Ryan, a good for nothing surfer dude, is likeable and believable as the hero who races against time to save Kim Basinger who makes for another damsel-in-distress role, as she is kidnapped and imprisoned in an attic.
The film is an adrenaline rush as Ryan overcomes all manner of obstacles to get to Kim's character. It is also filled with comic moments.
The only shortcomings are the wooden acting of Richard Burgi and Adam Taylor Gordon as the husband and son of Jessica. They have no character depth and serve mainly as plot devices rather than characters central to the plot.
By the way...the surname of Jessica is Martin...which makes for one of the lighter moments in the story. How Kim Basinger kept a straight face while Chris had all the best lines is beyond me!
