Israel Pics
The Aquaduct. Not sure if the lady in the picture adds to the photo or not. But this place was my first real impression of Israel(besides the Old City of Jaffa). It was cool to finally see it after only seeing pictures of it before. Truly a technological marvel of its time.
The scenic view from Caesarea Maritama(?). Just love the colours of the skies and water in Israel. So blue...
The Sun sets on the Holy Land. And silhouettes come out to play. Love this pic.
Do you recognise anyone?
This way please....
Altars built into the sides of the 'mountain' to pagan gods
The picture of this guy playing his whatever-you-call-it up on the hill at Ben Shean. It was truly an awesome experience listening to him play as we explored the ruins.
The cross pillar that demarcates the range of the monastery. There a few more all around the area. The monastery itself is built into the side of what looks like a sand dune. Amazingly the monastery area has lush greenery!
You do see signs like this in certain areas where live mines still remain uncovered. There, these mines will be until that particular area is needed for development. It is not deemed necessary to waste lives and manpower to de-activate the mines until needed.
A Rock Hyrax feasts up in the trees. I guess being called a Tree Hyrax is not as cool as being called a Rock Hyrax.
The caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found by Bedouin goat herders.
"... and then they found this. No, not the picture...but what is IN the picture..."
A rather interesting marble markings on the outside of the Dome of the Rock. Coincidence? Or is it telling us something?
Nevertheless the Dome of the Rock is a beautiful piece of architecture.
