Oral sex?
It seems I have been inundated with questions about oral sex in Singapore. Being the foremost authority on the subject (not!) I shall now address it....
Before we go probe further let us first define what 'oral sex' is.
Oral
-Spoken rather than written. See Usage Note at verbal.
-Of or relating to the mouth: oral surgery.
-Used in or taken through the mouth: an oral thermometer; an oral vaccine.
-Consisting of or using speech: oral instruction.
-Linguistics. Articulated through the mouth only, with the nasal passages closed.
-Psychology. Of or relating to the first stage of psychosexual development in psychoanalytic theory, from birth to about 18 months, during which the mouth is the chief focus of exploration and pleasure. The oral stage is followed by the anal stage.
Sex
-The property or quality by which organisms are classified as female or male on the basis of their reproductive organs and functions.
-Either of the two divisions, designated female and male, of this classification.
-Females or males considered as a group.
-The condition or character of being female or male; the physiological, functional, and psychological differences that distinguish the female and the male. See Usage Note at gender.
-The sexual urge or instinct as it manifests itself in behavior.
-Sexual intercourse.
-The genitals.
From the above we have indisputable evidence that I now have no better idea of what oral sex entails than I did before (and that I also have to go out and buy a new dictionary).
Anyway the brouhaha is all about how a police coast guard sergeant was prosecuted to 2 years jail for having oral sex with a minor (morning news flash!). Apparently the young lady...I mean girl ...was 15 at the time of the offence and not 16 as stated earlier. What this case has done is to once again bring Singapore under the microscope of the global community for our interesting laws. Letter writers to the country's major newspapers had called for the law's abolition, saying it was a remnant from British colonial rule and had no place in a modern society.
Oral sex is considered an offence under a section of the penal code which states that "whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animals" can be jailed up to 10 years, or even for life, as well as fined.
The ministries said in a statement published in the local media Saturday they are "reviewing the law relating to oral sex as part of its ongoing review of the penal code" and expect to finish the process in a few months.
However, spokeswomen for the two ministries was quick to also add that no adults engaged in consensual oral sex in private have been prosecuted under this law for a long time.
In an interesting sidenote to all of this are the recent statements by government officials of openess towards homosexuality in the civil service and the call for more foreign talents to come to Singapore. But the ban on oral sex severely limits their range of social activities. No amount of world-class theatres or bartop dancing will compensate for this lack.....bwaahaaahaaahaaaa....
