Saturday....and.....
This morning I went down to ICA to collect my new IC (one good way to be reminded that you are 30 already) and my new fangled passport. The new IC is one of those holographic types which the images make me look even more 'blur' than I already do. The images are so faint very unlike the previous incarnations of IC's. I asked the lady at the counter and she says that is how they all look...but I have my doubts....
My passport however looks alrite in comparision (funny thing is that i used the same pic for both applications). The queue was crazy. One would have thought that they were handing out Hello Kitty's or something. I saw that my queue number was still sometime away so I went for breakfast with momma and pappa. Think this is the first time me and my parents have sat down for breakfast this year I think. Lo and behold when I returned to find that my queue number had already been called. So the common held notion that the Civil Service is slow and unproductive may be laid to rest. I waited 10 minutes for it to be called again but....nothing seemed to happen....matter of fact the numbers just seemed to be getting bigger...and bigger. In my distress I approached one of the 'ever-so-helpful' ladies there. She told me I had to take another queue number and wait for my number to be called. Being me...I duly complied. Problem was that it was already past 11 a.m. and the place was packed to the rafters (if there were rafters) and there were close to 200 people between me and my number. Being unusually bold I again approached one of the staff, but this time a more senior-looking guy. He told me ALL I HAD TO DO WAS GO UP TO ONE OF THE EMPTY COUNTERS and inform the counter staff that I had missed my number being called and that i would be duly attended to shortly! He took my queue number slip and made all the arrangements...Within 10 minutes i was off beaming ear to ear with my new passport!
As I am writing this I am at home on a lazy Saturday afternoon. No idea what to do and how to do it. Wishing someone would call little old me and maybe meet up for coffee or tea. I washed my fish tank, checked my e-mail,read the newspapers and surfed the Net. So much for time fillers! Watching TV is always an option....
