days of glory
Worked in the morning. Ended late. Ai Khim told me that she would not be joing us for the BBQ later. I think that sucked for a number of reasons. Firstly the short notice. She knew about the bbq since the beginning but only now decided to 'let us know' of her decision. Secondly the fact that she would not be going because Joyce was not going. So what does that make us? Her enemies? Is she trying to tell me that she cannot get along with us or even have a decent conversation? Lots of other reason that just should not be written here.
May messaged me to let me know that she needed me to come pick her up from her office. On a side note she also wanted me to come up to help her carry some 'heavy' files down that she needed to bring home (which I ultimately found out was a ruse to get me to come up and meet this girl that she had been trying to set me up with). The CTE was jammed due to some accident and traffic was slow. So I instead detoured to get to May. What was supposed to be a faster way took me a full hour! I got to her office at around 2.30 plus.
May told me of her plan to make a fruit salad. We went to the afore said fruit stall and purchased a watermelon and pineapple. Before that we walked across to Tiong Bahru Plaza to buy Mac's as May went to Cold Storage to buy 'hotdogs'. We both then went to 'Her Place' to cut the fruits. As all this was happening I was receiving SMS'es from Lyn and Hasli about our whereabouts. I felt sore that we had to make all of them wait for us for so long. The charcoal for the bbq was in my car so they could not start without us. *sigh*
We were already late and here we were cutting fruits! I was fuming. Worst part was how May was so particular about how I cut the fruits (the shape, the size...etc...). It made the fruit cutting a process too tedious for my liking. Being that we were already desperately late and that everyone was anxiously waiting for us at the pit I just could not help but feel that May still has a lot of growing up to do as far as priorities and responsibilities go.
After that I drove to Labrador Park (with May!). I messaged Lyn and Hasli upon our arrival. Lyn messaged back ' :( ' . Oh dear....
I think everyone knew i was either in a bad mood or just plain moody. But after a while I got my groove back (at least what little grooviness i had before) and was even actually able to crack a *gasp* smile.
The fact was that everyone was so nice about our tardiness. I felt rotten that they had to wait but I was a fool to go along with May's plan in the first place.
Then the moment had arrived! The much anticipated sunset was finally dawning (I dunno how that works but it makes sense grammatically). It paled in comparision to the one the day prior when I was there but at least I got to share it with someone very near and dear to me. I even got to take a few (actually too many to count) snapshots of the sun in its various stages with Hasli's new digital camera. some came out blurry and others over-exposed but most came out alright in the end.
As soon as the bbq was over and done with we packed up our stuff. Just about then the heavens opened and rain poured forth. We packed off to the covered pavillion and were joined by close to 30 others from another pit which I presume were Filipinos. Those Filipinos really know how to have a good time. Give them a guitar and some food and they are set for a night of merriment.
After the rain had begun to subside, the three guys carted off some of the stuff to Poh's car and then returned to pick up the 3 ladies and the rest of the stuff to my car(in that particular order if my memory serves me correctly).
I gave Hasli and Faezah a lift to Yishun while Poh ever gallantly allowed Lyn to drive to home sweet home with May in tow.
