Chinese New Year's Eve blues
Had to work today for half a day.Just like last year. Or the year before. Or the year before. Or the year..(you get the picture). No matter how many times you go through this CNY eve ritual it still amounts to a pile of crap. I know there is a business to run and AVA needs to safeguard Singapore... yadda... yadda.. yadda... but still, it ends up feeling like you are working on a Sunday. You do not feel like working and would rather be at home doing something more meaningful but are stuck in the office just because. Maybe PRB is the exception to the norm, but couldn't they like make it less painful to be at the office? Like have an office party or organise some activities for staff in the way of staff welfare. Just my two cents worth.
After work I sent Ana and Mrs Soh to Khatib MRT before heading to Plaza Singapura. I left the office earlier so I managed to get there earlier than scheduled. I walked around PS as Agnes was a bit held up by human traffic heading towards home. She arrived in no time and we then had to finally decide on lunch. Agnes had a taste for Long John Silver's (read into that what you will @Hasli),so that is where we went. I had the combo meal with chicken, fish and shrimp and my lovely date for the day had a chicken combo meal. As per normal, she did not quite finish her portion and there were some fries leftover. After that we walked around PS. I was looking for one of them mosaic jig saw puzzles with a matching frame to boot. The shop we went to only had the puzzle but did not sell any frames for it. Perhaps I will go down to the jigsaw shop at Suntec this weekend after service to look for it then. We also went looking for a partner for Tiny (the lovable wawa on my dashboard). Agnes has developed quite an attachment to Tiny it seems. She always cuddle and strokes the little fella whenever she rides in my car.
We explored the Times Bookshop among others before heading up to the theatre for our movie. We were gonna catch Constantine. Seems like Agnes has a thing for Keanu Reeves. She could not stop gushing about how handsome he was after the movie was done.* groan*

REVIEW
Constantine is based on the DC comic of the same name. The premise is of John Constantine who once died 'for 2 minutes'.So he literally went to hell and back. So the story goes that he goes around banishing half-lifes (demons that possess human hosts) to hell while all the while knowing that ultimately he will have to return to his fiery fate some day.
I was kinda skeptical of Keanu in the title role. But somehow he managed to make it work. Kinda like Neo in the Matrix Trilogy. He made a believable Constantine and was spot on with his one-liners most times. However Rachel Weisz was not particularly good in her role. And it seemed like the cameraman-guy was really into her boobs or something as random shots zoomed in on Rachel's bosom. Not that I am complaining. Just that they shoulda been mentioned in the credits or something for the pivotal role they played.
The effects were alright if a little reminiscient of the Matrix at times. The plot was rather convoluted to say the least. I guess if one is familiar with the christian symbolism or watched exorcism movies like say..err...The Exorcist, would get a hang of all the religious references and stuff that pervade the film.
The villain of the piece,Lucifer, and the Archangel Gabrielle were particularly miscast. I never seen such a pudgy Lucifer. He looked like something out of a Francis Ford Coppola movie than the human incarnation of the Devil himself. As for Gabriel (or should it be Gabrielle?) was played by a woman which kinda made Gabriel look,well...wimpy. These were characters that shoulda been portrayed to showcase their powers to influence humankind but ended up looking like a mafia boss and a fairy respectively.Hmph!

After the movie we went to check out the Baker's Inn for some cakes but they were already closed for the day, today being CNY eve.
So Agnes and I walked down to Taka to check out the stuff that Nads wanted me to buy. Unfortunately Kinokuniya was closed too for CNY eve. I called Nads up to let her know what has transpired and told her they only open on Friday again. Heard what seemed like wailing on her side but I think it is probably nothing.
We then walked back to PS again where I sent Agnes home for her Reunion Dinner.
Do hope to see her again either tomorrow or Thursday. We did not really get to say or do much today, but we can make up for it next time.
