the week and random thoughts
Been down with the flu all this week. Only just now am I returning to somewhat normalcy. Have a blocked nose but other than that am fine.
Went to St.John's Island with the office gang. The pictures are at the Photo Blog. Was a fun time had by all. I especially enjoyed the game of 'Monkey' played using a real coconut. Too bad Agnes couldn't join in the water games. Funny how being stranded on an island brings out the best and worst in people though...
Not been to the gym or working out since..so long. The last 3 weeks my gym buddies and I have been down and out for various reasons. First Poh got struck down with flu. The following week Hasli experienced a twitched in his groin. Bwahahahaaa. Then this week was my turn to get bitten by the flu bug. Hopefully this week we can all make it again. I am so out of shape now. Of course I gotta remember not to overwork myself this time around...
In a related note, me not been a very good owner to Camou. We not been going out at all for our runs/walks. For very much the same reasons I do not blog as often these days. Gonna endeavour to make time for Cam's this week.
All the hoo-haa in the news this week has been about Terri Schiavo and her right to live or die. Her husband thinks she should be allowed to die and has since had her feeding tube removed. It takes about 2 weeks for the inevitable to happen. On the other hand her parents feel that with proper care and nourishment she can make a recovery. They have been trying in vain to get the courts to rule in their favour and have the feeding tube re-inserted.
My take on all of this is that no one has the right to decide if another person is to live or die. As such I do not support euthanasia or abortion for that matter. Of course some among us point to mitigating factors (coma, rising cost of health care, compassion for the person, dignity in death etc) but I just feel that euthanasia is tantamount to MURDER no matter how you try justify it....
The English Premier League is probably the longest and most taxing league in the world. For years now the english FA and clubs have been going on about it with both sides blaming the other. The club sides want a reduction in international matches and friendlies and a winter break like other european leagues. The national side wants a reduction in fixtures during a season and for clubs to release players from their club duties earlier in preparation for international matches and tournaments. I guess until both sides reach a compromise the ones that suffer most are the players. Hence the under-achievement of the club and national sides at european and international levels.
I been thinking about...
things to do in my spare time(if i did have spare time): courses and workshops. Guitar, language courses, cooking, ITE courses, retake my O-levels, go for my degree among others). This will be more so when and if Agnes takes her Masters.I will then find lots of free time on my hands. So...just gotta think of ways to use that time purposefully...
a dog: Agnes and I want to get a dog. But I dunno if it is a good idea at this time. Go look what has become of Camou. An example of what can happen when a couple buys a dog and then loses interests in it after the novelty wears out. Of course Agnes and I are a different kettle of fish from Noel and Paula...
seeing a doctor: for my insomnia and my inability to put on weight for an extended period of time. For a while now I have been experiencing difficulties sleeping well.Maybe it is time to seek professional help. On the other hand I eat like a horse and do not seem to be gaining any mass. Agnes suspects I have stomach parasites. Other put it down to good genes and a high metabolism. Just to be safe I should have it checked out also.
