Been there, done that
Been a while since I last really updated this space. Posting pictures does not really count. Neither does posting the results of some online thingamagic with a play on on name.
Summary on what I been up to:
Been to KL between 13 to 15 December. Still working on the pictures. Now I know how Marcus feels...
Had a nice Christmas dinner with family (except that Paula and Lynn did not make it!!). Agnes thoroughly enjoyed it. Even said that it was her best Christmas ever.
Watched The Chronicles of Narnia:The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (what a long title! ) . Enjoyed it. Not the best movie ever, but well worth the admission price and then some. But I must say the beavers stole the show. The scene that made the movie for me: The dramatic finale, a battle in a valley, the armies of the White Witch (because she is and wear white presumably) and the armies loyal to Aslan, the Lion King (Can You Feel the Love Tonight?) face off in battle, with the future of Narnia in the balance. The camera pans to Mr Beaver in full battle armour and armed with arrows and a bow. Priceless.
Got gifts and gave away gifts in the spirit of the season.
Bought $3 worth of fish. To make a long story even shorter; all of them died!
Not been to the gym lately, let alone gone jogging.

In the news:
There is gonna be a civil defence exercise held soon. 3 stations and one bus interchange are gonna be 'affected'. There will be explosions and lotsa smoke to make it as realistic as possible. The public is advised to remain calm.
Like as though we Singaporeans will be anything but calm. Anyone who has ever been at the scene of an accident or participated in a building fire drill would know that we Singaporeans are cool as cucumbers in times of crisis...
"Eh brother, that lorry langgah that old lady leh. She not moving one. Think she mati liao."
"Aiyoh so poor thing! Better take down number plate, wait sure kena strike 4D first prize one."
or
"Alamak! Fire drill again! Last year have, this year also have. This Civil defence peepur so much much free time ah?"
"So sian ,hor? Make like so noisy one. Especially during my lunch time. No consideration man! Now bo pian have to go down the stairs and fall in macam army liddat. @#%$#%%!! "
So I can safely say no one will alarmed except the alarms themselves. Bad pun I know.

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson has proclaimed that Man-ure has turned the corner. Shades of Gerard Houllier there. But at least they are in 2nd place so at least 'turning the corner' is at least forgiveable in this instance...for now...
Chelski beat Arse-enal and the rest of the chasing pack let out a collective groan. The title looks Chelsea's to lose. But not if the red sides of manchester and merseyside have anything to say about it.
Speaking of Liverpool, they beat my Newcastle 2-0 in a match that degenerated into a near free-for-all after Lee Bowyer's ugly tackle. Bowyer got sent off,Peter Crouch got a yellow and that was all. I read the FA may take disciplinary action against Steven Gerard and Peter Crouch for their part in the fiasco.
Liverpool vs Newcastle. A match where everyone is a awinner. Goals, controversy and excitement. One match that I do not really care which sides wins or loses. Because I love em both.

Sunny is in bad need of a car wash. Been ages since I last brought him. I used to pamper him so much before, but not been doing so lately. A good vacuuming would also be in order. I would also like to bring the old bone-shaker for polishing, but my dear Agnes thinks that it would be overly-indulgent on my part to do so.

Another year, another Christmas special on TV brought to 'millions'of home all across Singapore by NEW CREATION CHURCH. We did it in 2003 and then again this year. It was another good show by the NCC dudes and dudettes. Although the last show still has a place in my heart over the latest one. Maybe it is the song selection or just who was performing onstage that made me prefer one over the other, but nonetheless both were great shows. Bravo!

Found yet another KIA brouchure on my bed yesterday. I think someone is really trying to tell me something. I have a soft spot for the Kia Picanto. It is the cheapest in the range to boot. Maybe someday I will cough up the cash to get me one of those, but till then.... Sunny is the set of wheels for me.

December is upon us (or rather passing us by as of this writing). Any round about the Yuletide season road along the highways and byways of this tiny red dot are filled with cars of every imagination. The reason being is not because of christmas shopping. although that is a factor, but rather because government agencies start to rush repairs and maintainance work on our roads to beat the end of the calendar year. So most if not all major roads undergo road closures or have lanes closed off so pipes and wires can be laid, 'uneven' road can be re-laid, roads widened/diverted etc. I do not know the reason for the annual phenomenon of road works every year. Why can't they just do such things throughout the year? Such road maintainance work is done all year round, but why the sudden glut of road works in december? Maybe our friends in the LTA can help us out on this.
