A new beginning perhaps for some

We blow a hole through the night
Night becomes day, that is the way
Hell on earth and heaven's beckoning call
Ringing in my ears

In my moment of folly
In my desperate hope for a better world for you and me
I lost everything that I thought was mine to win
A million lives lost on a whim
Twisted steel and broken lives
As the reality of what I had done finally sets in

The battle has been won, but the war has already been lost
The moment I decided to go down this road
As I lay down to rest, a thousand thoughts race through my mind
Never be the way it was, never be the way they said it would be

At what cost this liberty
What gain is there to live at the edge of the sword?
Now I have to go away and never come back this way again
Live in this bed my own hands have made
Turn away from love to hate
All my strength inside me drained
