New years bloggology
True to expectations, CNY has been a bore thus far. On Saturday had reunion dinner at Agnes's place with her family. We all had steamboat (in a rice cooker pot no less!). After that we watched the CNY show on TV. We then spent some time on the couch if you know what I mean. ;)
On Sunday I went down to the Indoor Stadium for weekly service. This time it was a combined services at 4.30 pm. The stadium was relatively packed despite it being the first day of the New Year. At least some people have their priorities right. I think. After church, I headed to Agnes place once more for dinner. This time chicken curry with bread was on the menu. The most significant thing that happened was receiving a red packet from Agnes's dad. Being that he does not work, getting a red packet from him was unexpected and therefore even more meaningful. Agnes was sleepy after dinner so slept most of the rest of the evening away. I alternately became her pillow and footrest. As usual there was only crap on TV.
And today we are not scheduled to meet as Agnes has 'tons' of work to do and will not be able to entertain me. So I might as well not bother turning up. On the flip side, Agnes's mum prepared lots of nice food for tonight. Too bad I will be missing out on that.
Been thinking:
- About having a dog. I am more a dog person than a cat person. I love cats but I love dogs even more. Especially on days like this that I wish I had a dog. Dog's are loyal companions and friends. How I miss Camou now. He and I spent so many hours together. He was a big part of my life during the time we were together. I do hope to have a dog of my own, but it would not be fair to the dog as I am away at work most of the day. That would of course mean that the dog would have to be cared for by my mum and dad in the day, which is not fair to them either. If I do get a dog, I would probably adopt one from the SPCA rather than from a pet shop. The dogs there probably need an owner more anyway.
- The other day we went to Great World City to watch a movie. There is this pet shop there that sells all sort of cool stuff and small animals too. I was particularly enamoured by the hamsters and guinea pigs. I would not rule out the possibility of keeping either, or even both, if my current tank setup does not work out.I could house them in the current 2 foot tank in my room. Dunno if that is an entirely feasible idea, since hamsters and maybe guinea pigs literally stink. No idea what that might do to the room since it is not exactly the most well-ventilated of abodes.
- Still looking out for some neat part-time courses. As I meantioned I was looking into something along the lines of business management or business administration. There is this big school just opposite my house. If I could find a course I like that would be way cool. Convenient for me ,man!
- Repairs: still gotta get my cable modem checked out. It works when it feels like and then goes on the blink for no apparent reason . In recent times I have used the wireless network at my home to go online. But that is not a long term solution, as we are still paying for the monthly cable connection, so not using it would be a waste. Likewise my PC is not exactly reliable. Worst part is that the O.S. is probably not original so I can't update windows. So it is particularly vulnerable to infections. The anti-spy software and anti-virus software helps to identify and delete viruses and hacks etc, but do not quite get rid of the problem as almost daily new ones pop up. sometimes even the same one again and again. Lastly my phone. As I mentioned in an earlier post my Motorola E680 has been giving me problems and I am now currently using my trusty Samsung.
- The lobsters in my smaller tank are growing! It is easy to tell cos each time they shed/moult their old 'shells' it means they are getting bigger! It is kinda more gratifying watching them grow. The pay-off is a bit more immediate than with the fish where there is hardly any discernible growth in fish compared to the lobsters.
- Sentosa is having their (now)annual flower festival aptly names Sentosa Flowers 2006. Maybe tomorrow if Agnes is free we could both go down there and maybe take some nice pictures. And then laze by the beach. We see how things fall tomorrow.
-Speaking of Sentosa, Agnes and I been together nearly a year. And dating even before that. In a sense things have come full circle for us. We first started off at last years staff welfare dinner at Peck Seah Street, and just last month we celebrated another one, this time at Pahang Street. And last year I went to Agnes home for CNY reunion dinner, likewise this year. Of course last year things were different from how things are now. For one Agnes is back in school. So I have no idea how that will affect our upcoming 1 year celebrations and Valentine's Day next month. But I do feel we have been through all of this before and this year is gonna be even better if I have anything to say about it.
