a loooong day
.Today has not been the best of days.
The haze was especially bad today. Made me all lethargic and all.
After work I drove down to NUS to meet up with Agnes as she had wanted to rehearse for her presentation at 8. Agnes practised a grand total of 1 and a 1/2 times . But think she did well in the end. So proud of her no matter what happens after this.
Normally her lectures finish round about 9.30 pm. But today due to the presentations, it dragged on until nearly 11 pm!! Agnes has been unwell this past week and had not even had a proper dinner. I had not had a proper dinner either as Noel was cooking pasta, and he was keeping a share for me for when I got back. But due to the late ending of Agnes's presentation, I was delayed.
The situation was made more dire when my handphone battery went dead. So Agnes and Noel had no means of communicating with me and vice versa. Fortunately Agnes and I somehow managed to find each other after her stuff had ended. I had gone off to pick up the car and it so happened that her presentations had ended. Luckily I managed to spot her walking out. Otherwise I have no idea how we would have found one another after that.
After that I rushed to send Agnes home. Along Upper East Coast Road, not too far from where Agnes resides, The car suddenly started to vibrate and then disengaged! Fortunately traffic was light and I somehow managed to make my way to the outer-most left lane safely. Sunny would not start no matter what I did. As Sunny was parked at a bend, a rather precarious place to breakdown, I decided to push it to one of the houses along the road. At least there it would be out of the way of the oncoming vehicles along the road. Agnes steered and I pushed. It worked out mostly but due to the engine problems, power steering was not on,so poor Agnes had some difficulties making Sunny go where we wanted it to go.
A couple of nice guys also stopped to help me push the car to a safe position.
Then the AA dude came and set up the tow. He kindly sent Agnes back to the bus stop near her house. And then towed Sunny to the SPC opposite my house.
Noel was waiting anxiously at home for me. I had said that I would be home between 10 to 11, but it was already past 12 when I finally got home. Noel cooked me the promised pasta and then went off to meet our 'neighbour'.
Tomorrow I will go down to the service station to get them to repair whatever was wrong with the car. Noel and I had planned to go to the Jurong Bird park tomorrow for some 'brotherly time'. But due to the unforseen transportation woes, we will play it by ear. If we manage to get the car back early then we can proceed with the plan to go to JBP. If not then we can postpone it to Thursday when I am on leave next.
