doozie sunday post

Slept in til late today. Got up around 1pm.In part due to the flu medication I took. Even now I still feel lethargic and not quite get-up-and-go. The other reason was Agnes ws over here until nearly 1am yesterday(or rather today). So by the time I sent her home and got back home it was already nearly 3. By the time I settled down it was already 4!

As is obvious by now I will not be going to church later. Funny how people think not going to church is a bad thing. It is as though each time you do not go you get a black mark against you. It is probably the same people who think not reading your bible or praying three times a day will disqualify you from heaven. My philosophy is right teaching produces right believing.

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 8:38-39

The other day I went down to the new Giant at Tampines. At the same time I checked out the neighbouring IKEA and Courts Superstore next door. It was tiring but ultimately a fun way to spend an after work weekday. Needless to say the Giant Hypermarket was crowded. The thing is that the aisles are rather narrow in the store which made navigating thru the place rather difficult especially when one has a shopping trolley or a stroller in tow. I bought a pouffee and some food for the hamsters and rabbits. Then it was off to IKEA. Love the stuff they sell and their living concepts. Bought a dimmer cable for my table lamp. It works a treat. Good more lighting up my room when I do not want it to be too bright. Good mood lighting for when Agnes comes over too.
Then it was a hop over to Courts. This one was over 3 floors big. But I found the stuff there rather on the expensive side, especially since I had only just come from IKEA earlier. Some say the stuff at Courts is better quality stuff than that at IKEA, but pricewise I think it better to just go and get my home furniture from IKEA. They look better and best of all I can get a similar piece of furniture at IKEA for half or even a third of the price at IKEA. So if the piece I bought gets spoilt or broken after a few years just buy a new one from IKEA again! Seems like a no brainer to me. Rather than buy a $1500 sofa set from Courts I could get a similar looking one from IKEA for $400. I would assume the IKEA bought one will last about 4 to 5 years minimum. The Courts bought sofa set? I dunno... 10 years(since it is supposedly better quality). So even after buying 2 sets of furniture from IKEA I would still be $700 in the black. Of course the prices quoted are just an illustration, but I think you get the idea.

Like I mentioned earlier, Agnes and I applied for a flat at Bedok. I would think our chances of getting it are good. Whether we decide to take up the HDB on the offer is a slightly different matter altogether. We went to view the Sample Flats yesterday. It does indeed provide the convenience, location and atmosphere we are looking for. However the 4-Room flats are rather smaller than what we expect. The 5-Room ones however seem to be just right in terms of size, although a bit on the smaller side as well compared to older flats of the same kind. We will wait and see if our application does get accepted and then take it from there if we do indeed want to take the flat or get a re-sale or wait for the upcoming new flats near the Bedok Stadium.

Got a letter from the Army regarding my upcoming ICT. In the letter it states the date of the ICT as being from the 9th of April to the 20th. This is different from what I had gotten in my notification a few months back which stated it as being from the 10th to the 20th. I am gonna call them up on Monday to clarify. Hope it is the 10th as I had already applied my leave for those dates. Not to mention the 9th is someones special day.

Upcoming movies to catch:

Music and Lyrics

Starring Messr Hugh Grant and the lovable Drew Barrymore.
plot: A romantic comedy following Alex Fletcher, a washed-up '80s pop star who's been reduced to working the nostalgia circuit at county fairs and amusement parks. The charismatic and talented musician gets a chance at a comeback when reigning diva Cora Corman invites him to write and record a duet with her, but there's a problem--Alex hasn't written a song in years, he's never written lyrics, and he has to come up with a hit in a matter of days.

Hearty Paws

Plot: Chan, 11, lives alone with his younger sister, SO-I. Though young, he's tough and hates to lose. His love for his sister is so great that he would do anything for her. For her sixth birthday, he steals a new-born puppy for her as she has been longing for one. SO-I names it Maeum, literally translated as Heart and the threesome soon becomes close. Just when they thought happiness with Maeum would last forever, something unexpected happens and the relationship between Chan and Maeum falls apart.

Mr Bean's Holiday

plot: In his latest misadventure, Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson)--goes on holiday to
the French Riviera and becomes ensnared in a European adventure of cinematic
proportions. But his trip doesn't go as smoothly as he had hoped when the
bumbling Bean falls face first into a series misfortunes. Wrongly thought to
be both kidnapper and acclaimed filmmaker, he has some serious explaining to
do after wreaking havoc across the French countryside and arriving at his
vacation spot with a Romanian filmmaker's precocious son and an aspiring
actress in tow.

TMNT

plot: After the defeat of their old arch nemesis, The Shredder, the Turtles have grown apart as a family. Struggling to keep them together, their rat sensei, Master Splinter, becomes worried when strange things begin to brew in New York City. Tech-industrialist Max Winters is amassing an army of ancient monsters to apparently take over the world. And only one super-ninja fighting team can stop them-those heroes in a half shell-Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael!

With all that is going on it is best I hold off my quitting AVA and stuff. And hold off starting my business. Also thought of keeping Sunny and still getting a commercial van for business use when the time comes. Not sure how to juggle between getting married, our new home, my job, new business, old car and new vehicle all at once. sigh. Last thing I want to do is compromise my relationship and financial stability. Maybe now is not the right time...
