forest for the trees
I just do not quite get it. And probably do not want to know. One of them situations where you end up in deep shite no matter which side you take,or still get mud slung your way if you stand in the middle.
Which then brings me to..I VISITED NOEL's WORKPLACE! Agnes and myself were in the vicinity running some errands for our solemnisation, and droppped by Bar None. Since it was early there were no crowds yet and we managed to talk to the 'manager' and have a couple of drinks (non-alcoholic I might add). The place was freezing then. Me and Agnes had a hard time making it through without getting pnemonia.
We were in town looking for wedding bands and clothes for our big day. We easily managed to get the wedding bands from Lee Hwa. There was already a discount on top of my membership discount! So we managed to save quite a bundle. Then it was on to the clothes side of things. I did not get anything, Agnes bought a nice pink number from Taka for next to nothing as I utilised my gift vouchers. A nice dress which she may or may not use on the actual day.
I had parked at Singapore Power, which was a good idea due to its proximity to Orchard, the ease of finding a lot in the middle of the Great Singapore Sale 2007 and lastly the cheap hourly parking rates. Will park there again if ever I need to go to any of the shopping centres in the close vicinity.
Bought the new Linkin Park album,Minutes to Midnight. Just love it. It is now on regular play on Sunny's turntable.
Been a little beside myself with all the preparations for the wedding and new flat. But we have managed to get a lot done recently which is good. Noel is helping us procure a videographer and maybe even the venue and catering for the ROM reception. In the meantime I will call Dome tomorrow to check out what is on offer, as they claim to do functions like ROM,birthdays etc. The on duty manager was unable to entertain us on friday so I have to call tomorrow again.
On Friday Agnes, me and Wee Ling hit the town looking for a dress for my darling dearest. We scoped out Haji Lane but found nothing. We then headed to Hotel Rendezvous for more of the same to much the same effect. Then it was dessert time at Mr Bean's. Then sent the ladies home.
Oh did I mention that I belatedly proposed to Agnes? Well..I did. A another story for another time.
I guess the realities of living in the sunny island of Singapore is that if ya wanna get a flat ya have to be married. So that kinda takes out all the romance out of getting married. instead of saying "Will you marry me?", we ask "Shall we apply for a flat?". So in our case we kinda worked backwards in that we applied for the flat, registered to be married, proposed and then asked for her folks blessings. In between we shopped for the rings, let my parents know what was afoot, invited our guests, looked for venues for the reception and all. Too late to go back in time to do things the right way, so all I can hope to do is make my sweetie happy despite all the shortcomings and rush to get hitched.
Applied for the Home Loan Eligibility(HLE) today. And also managed to discuss some of the finer details of our flat selection with Agnes. Agnes may or may not have to get a Statutory Declaration of her sate of employment done. Then there is the little issue of submitting the documents for HLE.
Agnes's tree for her experiments was found cut down when I was at Green Valley the other day. So we are gonna investigate next week on what actually transpired as the boss of the joint had verbally agreed to leave the tree untouched.

Liked your blog. I especially liked the Singaporian system of "reverse marriage proposals" but I can't see it working here. Anyway, good luck with the wedding (and flat) and, since I see you work for government, you might want to visit www.councilworker.blogspot.com
I'll visit again and read some more later.
thanks for coming.
I guess all I can say is.."Only in Singapore!"
will do to visit that blog you mentioned. but i am sure being a public servant here in singapore is rather diferent from being a councilworker in the good ole UK.
