the day that could
Was kinda sucky(but not as bad as monday) at work today. Sometime I wish I was back in school again.Working life ain't that much fun. Today felt more like a Monday than anything which is not a good sign. The minutes seem to pass by ever so slowly. On a brighter note we had a small lunch celebration for Poh today at McDonald's. Hasli,Ko Koh, Foo, Lyn, Ana,me and of course Poh went. Would be rather pointless if Poh did not attend. Our plan was to go to KFC but the place was packed with people with pretty much the same intentions. Hasli got himself squirted with chillie sauce by a group of boys from his former alma mater. He it all over the back of his WHITE shirt, arms and back of his jeans. In the end I had to lend him one of my t-shirts to wear (and yes...it fitted rather snugly).
After work Hasli and I headed to town to look for my SD Card and to get a spare battery for my camera among others. Many of the shops at Peninsula Plaza and Funan were closed for the new years but we still managed to find a few possibles shops with good deals.Probably will go again on Tuesday or whenever to see if East Gear and Cathay Photo can match the deals we found.
After our window shopping had been done we tried to come up with what to do for dinner. We waited awhile downstairs as Agnes and Christine joined us for a while as Agnes was looking for some scores from Cristofori. Agnes still owes me a song...
After that we (the ladies and us)parted ways.
Hasli and I decided to go to our old stomping ground Adam Road Hawker Centre for dinner. As I always say: growing boys need to eat!
Hasli had mee goreng and I had roti john. I did not feel up to having a big dinner tonight. For some reason my roti john took like almost forever to arrive although they were ordered from the same stall at the same time. As usual we both had teh halias.
After dinner we got back to the car and I sent Hasli home. I then went home for a bit.
Around 10-ish I got prepared to go to the airport to send Nadia off to Perth. I got there slightly before 11. Only Nads,Shakira(!) and her aunt were there. Later Natt and the parents joined us. I was fully expecting more people to be there but it ended up I was the only non-family member there. But that did not really matter anyway. Of all the times Nadia has gone off and I was not there to see her off, this kind of makes up for it in a way.
After checking in their luggage we went over to the Swensen's for ice cream. Let me just say the service staff there were rather incompetent and rude to say the least. I am usually quite pleased with the service I get at Swensen's but this time it was sub-par. They got some orders mixed up and were large unhelpful and stuff. Nads had enough when we had paid the bill to tell the supervisor to send the staff for some customer service training. Of course we felt she could have been a little more diplomatic in doing it, but the fact remains that the service standards left something to be desired.
After that we adjourned to the Departure area near the bookshops and Coffee Bean where we hung around the benches there. Down at the McDonald's were spied a hideous looking merlion made out of french fries packets. It was a monstrosity. I will post the pictures I took with my phone if ever I have a chance.
When it was edging closer to boarding time, Nadia and her mum went in..
As her family was there I did not get a hug from Nadia *big humph*
Although Nadia did say I could claim my..ermmm...hug...from Natt later. Too bad by the time I got her message I was already in my car on the ECP.
I will not forget! :P
Then took another drive along what is fast becoming my favourite expressway, the Tampines Expressway, home with the radio up and the windows down.
