I first got to know uncle ong when I first joined PPQS. He came across as a stubborn old man with a heart of gold. He was not exactly the most prolific worker but I indeed count him among one of my closest friends even though he was close to deaf and we had difficulties communicating at times. But somehow we always managed to get the message across. He was close to retirement already and renewal was highly unlikely. He was at a bit of a loss at what to do if he did not have to work.I was concerned too. But it was obvious that he was not in the pink of health and his postion was rendered quite redundant when most of his duties were contracted out to private cleaners. His duties consisted mainly of despatching documents and cleaning the vehicles used for our field inspections.
