The weekend that was
My brother Noel was injured in a scuffle on Saturday morning.
His story: A group of guys accused one of Noel's acquaintances of treating his girlfriend like a hooker(read: he was purportedly asking her how she cost per night). Noel stepped in to prevent a fight. From there it escalated into a free-for-all. Noel was punched and kicked in the head.
Apparently the group has been involved in similar incident before. Noel has made a police report and stuff. Noel has a slight skull fracture. But the doctor discharged him and told him to monitor his condition. Such trauma to the head can result in dizzy spells, headaches and other such.
After service today, I went about Suntec and Marina Square looking for stuff. I was looking for a bag for my camera, a lens cap for my camera and a luggage bag. I love my camera, but the carry case it comes with is just for the camera with no facility for accessories like spare batteries, memory cards and such. So I thought it would be timely to buy one for my Bangkok trip. Managed to find a cheap one from Carrefour. I had wanted to buy a new lens cap as my original one was lost. Did not manage to find a new one though. The ever helpful guys at Cathay Photo told me the only way to get one was to go down to the dealer (Panasonic) at Bukit Merah as no one stocks such accessories in retail. Finally.. The luggage bag. I foresee that I am gonna be having more overseas escapades now that I am with Agnes so I thought it worthwhile to invest in a proper bag for traveling. I have one huge case which is way too big for short and medium length trips. I usually use my knapsacks or gym bags for my trips. So today I went about today looking. And as luck would have it I finally found what I was looking for in the first place I looked (Carrefour) after exploring the whole of Marina and Suntec. They had this luggage set consisting of 3 bags in different sizes retailing for $39. It looked and felt right, and gave good value for money. So I have one for every type of travel.16 inches, 20 inches, 24 inches respectively. In the interim I can use the bags as a convenient storage for all the junk that litters my room floor.
Finally Pastor Prince is back! Been like 2 months since I last seen him. It seems whenever I attend services he is away, and whenever I skip services he is the one giving the message! But today finally our paths met. And my...his hair is longer now. Almost ah beng. Hahahaa. As usual a great message from him.
Yesterday, I picked Agnes up from her place and went down to Katong Mall to make a booking at the music school for her to practice for her piano exam. Agnes booked her practice for the 19th evening(coincidentally our 6th month anniversary as well). But I guess sacrifices have to be made. The piano exam means a lot to her and there will be many other celebrations to follow. After that we went to SGH to see Agnes's dad who was undergoing dialysis. After he had his dinner we set off for Funan. Due to the National Day rehearsals, roads around the Padang were closed. This made an otherwise 5 minutes prolonged into over 30 minutes. The roads were jammed due to all the road diversions and I had to get from Outram Road to Funan Centre, but I had to go all the way to near Bugis Junction just to make a U-turn just to get to the car park. If I had known the extent of the jam maybe I could have gone by an alternative route. Anyway, we got there in the end. Agnes bought her memory stick from South Asia and then we crossed over to Peninsula to to look for my lens cap but Cathay Photo was already closed(or rather we could not find it/them). Will go look for it tomorrow after service. Had dinner at the food court. Agnes had Yong Tou Foo and I had sambal fried rice. Mine was horrid. Overcooked and you can hardly taste any sambal. But I ate it all. We then headed home to check up on Noel following his brawl. He seemed alright despite looking a bit dazed and tired. Agnes and I then spent time in my room until it was time for Agnes to head home...
