balls and roses
Took half day off yesterday. Went down to GV Grand at Great World Plaza to watch Goal! I must say I rather enjoyed the show. Great all round acting and story. At least it was believable and had that human side to it unlike many other sports movies where it became either a comedic farce or the story had a Disney like ending (where every became friends and the good guys won in the end).Of course the much talked about David Beckham scene lived up to its reviews. Beckham was utter crap and should not give up his day job. Overall the story was great with exception to the finale, which I found a little unrealistic in that the hero scored the winning goal in the dying minutes of a match against their arch-rivals in the final match of the season off a direct freekick. A bit too convenient don't you think?
It helped that I enjoyed it so much that Newcastle are my favourite footie team.
After the movie, I did some shopping in the area and had a light 'lunch' at McDonalds, comprising of a medium fries and a iced milo. I also bought a nice bouquet from the florists for Agnes. When I saw it,I knew it was the one I should get. It is just so pretty with all the pink roses and flowers. Must get Agnes to give me a picture of it to post here.
There was still some time before 6 pm when I would pick Agnes from her office, so I took a drive over to Mount Faber and then drove down to Labrador Park. Before I knew it it was time to go pick Agnes...
I met the girls (Yenling joined us) and I dropped her (Yenling again) off at near Raffles Place/Clifford Pier. We then drove over to Beach Road to eat the chongqing steamboat that had been reviewed in the Straits Times. The two higher rated ones were packed to the rafters so we had to settle for the 3rd rate one. We paid $15 each and it was not half bad. We will probably try the other 2 next time round
After dinner we had desserts at a dessert stall (what else?) along Lian Seah Street. We shared a nice fruit & ice cream combo. The mango especially was nice.
After that we felt really full from all the eating and wisely decided to take a walk to Bugis Junction. Just wandered around aimlessly until we stumbled upon the Neoprint shop on the 3rd level. There the 3 of us (not yenling this time, but Eggy the green turtle who was with us all the while) took a trio of pictures and chose the 'best' one. A set costs $6.00. It turned out a little off as I was a little too high in the frame, that the captions kind of covered part of the upper part of my head. Never mind. learn from it and not place my bulbous head so high next time, or saw my legs off at the knees to prevent a repeat.
With that done we headed back to Sunny and I sent Agnes home. Was all in all a good & fruitful day.
HAPPY EIGHT MONTH ANNIVERSARY AGNES!
