Car Accident - God is our Protector
This is a testimony from my dear brother Simon which I had received a while back....witness the Lord's protection...
Praise the Lord. I would like to share my testimony in experiencing God’s
protection.
I have more than 10 years of driving experiences but I have never
encountered a situation like this. Such things can only happen to others…so I
thought.
Last Sunday, after attending the 2nd service, we have
decided to take the kids to the zoo. We took the PIE way towards
BKE.
While we were having a very casual conversation, I noticed a
big truck that normally transports rubbish or debris from the construction sites
swerved into my lane suddenly.
The truck was obviously speeding and
there were cars on all the other lanes and at the same time, a car was trailing
at a distance behind me.
While I was considering of shifting into
the first lane, within split seconds, two white wall panels (2m x 1m) (gypsum
boards/fiber boards) that are commonly used for wall partitioning was lifted off
the truck. Obviously the side panels used by the truck driver to hold down the
debris could not hold down all the boards and debris in his truck. It was too
late for me to swerve away and at the same time, it was so close, I can only
hope that it will fly over me.
The two pieces of fiberboard landed
on the road with a loud thud and for a moment, it looks like a big white wall
was erected right in front of my car. Too late to react, my car just drives
straight into it. There was no scream inside the car, total silence and Xan (My
eldest son, 9 years old) was sitting next to me. I could feel the impact on my
car and on my windscreen. The next thing I know, the two huge boards broke into
pieces and my car was still moving and the windscreen was intact.
The rest of the road users were probably very shocked by what they
have seen. Very quickly, my sense of “what to do next” kicks in and I speed up
and go after the truck. I wanted to take down the vehicle’s
number.
Everyone inside the car got into action and started to
memorize the truck’s number and I blared the car horns at the truck and finally
got it to stop at the road shoulder.
Together with the truck
driver, we inspected the car. For a moment, I was amazed and to be honest, a
little bit embarrass too. The truck driver has this look that says:
“What?”
Besides having a layer of white dust on my bonnet and some
broken pieces of the fiberboard caught in the ventilation area for the radiator,
I could not find a single dent on my car.
With my hands still
shaking, I looked at the driver and said: “If this happens to a motorcyclist,
you would have killed him instantly!” He knows what I was talking about and he
apologized. I believe, in his heart, he was probably very stunned because the
damage could have been worst.
I got back into the car and we
started praying. We thank God for being our protector. So many things could have
gone wrong. If I swerve into the other lanes, it would have collided with the
other vehicles. If I had jammed on my brakes, I would have created a chain
collision.
Most importantly, we were all safe. Nothing broken,
nothing lost. As a family, we realized God has become our Protector and Pastor
Prince taught on this truth in the morning service.
I looked at my
wife and said: “Hearing the right message and attending the right church can
really make a difference between life and death”
God Bless
Simon
