"Let me tell you a story....long before your time....." Part 1

2.45 pm-The flight leaves at 5 pm.You have to be there 2 hrs before. But we are still at home. Apparently Paula came back late and is now rushing to get changed. All set.....now we drive to the airport.....(we all know how I feel about tardiness......)

3.15 pm-We get there on time but we are all starving since we did not have lunch nor breakfast even. We sit down for Burger King in the passenger area and Noel buys one of them 'Rey Mysterio' wrestling posters that they sell for $1.(How are we gonna keep that poster from crumpling and bending outta shape with all the travelling we will be doing??)

5 pm-I go through immigration security and they confiscate my teeny-weeny swiss army knife and my mini multi-purpose tool keychains as they pose a security risk! Gee...wonder how am I a security risk? Maybe I could use the nail file to pry open the plane cabin door? Or hold one of the stewardesses hostage with the screwdriver. They give me one of them claim slips to retrieve my items in K.L.

6.30 pm - The flight takes about 35 minutes and we are in K.L.

7 pm -When we get to the Immigration counter we see a throng of people waiting to be processed.(looks like close to 500 pax!!) It seems like it is the month of Ramadan and there are 3 counters open only.Geez....this is gonna be a long day. Eavesdrop on the 2 gentlemen ahead of us (both businessmen...one is italian/pakistani mix and a real talker...the other seems to be american...a good listener?)and listen to the rantings of people in the queue. One guys even goes bonkers and starts talking to himself and hitting the wall!

7.30 pm - Out of nowhere 300 little yellow people appear!! They appear non-plussed as they slot themselves into the queues ahead of the people who have been waiting there. Bleddy fools!! So now there are about 600 ppl waiting to get out. Tempers are flaring, ang moh's getting pissed at being 'invaded', little yellow people crawling all over the place! Dammit!!

8 pm - Finally see the light at the end of the tunnel . Now to go down and get a rental car. My bro spies beer at the duty free shop. The shop people give him funny looks. May have something to do with him looking kinda Malay-like. We advise him to buy a bigger crucifix. Paula kindly points out that it is an offence to be seen carrying and drinking from bottles of liquor in public. Wonder if that's true....

8.30- Off we go to Klang. Paula is driving and I am the 'secondary driver'. Feels kinda different to not be the one driving since I drive those two all over Singapore. Sitting there at the back seat and all I can think about is how I wish Joyce were here.*sigh*

9.15 - We reach Paula's family home. I get to meet everyone.Noel gets all the attention. Hmph! We are all gonna go for dinner later. This guy from China (!) is apparently staying over so we three (later to be 4) have to stay in a nearby hotel. The guy even gives my bro a great, big hug! Takes everyone by surprise.

10 pm- We all drive in 3 cars to this place that comes highly recommended. But alas...it is closed! So we make our merry way to this other place (not that highly recommended) . We eat and drink. Food is average. Think Paula's sis has the hot's for me. Problem:Boyfriend is just next to her.Real nice guy to boot.

11 pm- We go home....or more specifically to the hotel. Hotel room fridge has no booze. Paula and Noel go to the 7-11 for some. Me and the younger sis,Fei, watch TV and make conversation. When Noel and Paula get back we all get washed up. Paula go to sleep first. The other 3 of us play card games til 4 am.I am good in blackjack but suck at 'paitee' (or something to that effect). The aircon is too cold and I find it hard to sleep....

What would I do if I had a million dollars?

1) I would buy a car. Not just any car but one of them snazzy sports cars.Maybe an off-road type Jeep. Or a Beetle!!I love them Beetles...kinda remind me of...bugs...hmmm...

2) Get a Penthouse. Not the magazine (although I could get a lifetime subscription...decisions..decisions...) but a penthouse suite in the heart of the city. Would be way cool.(wonder if 1 mil is enuff to buy one and maintain one though...)

3) Charity....but who? The Red Cross...Community Chest....SPCA?? Gee...I dunno....I guess the SPCA and the Zoo are close to my heart...so there......maybe the Children's Society as well.......animals and children...love them....

4) I would like to travel the world. Visit all 7 wonders of the World....go on an African Safari....go whale watching in Alaska or Down Under.....Ride a train across Europe....maybe watch an EPL match live....Wrestlemania 20 at Madison Square Garden beckons....Disneyland.....

5) Start a business...but what kinda business? Fish shop? heh heh... gonna have to rack my brain on this one.....maybe since I like working with youth and animals (young animals!!)...maybe a school? a pet shop? Like music too....a CD shop?or a shop selling movie and music memorabilia? A shop selling collectibles like toys (another passion!) Computer games shop.....a book shop?.....hardware shop (me luv fixing things) ....computer hardware/software.......

6) maybe give some of it to my church. So that they can build a big and cavernous auditorium with plush seats and state of the art sound system .....wait a minute they already do have that.....

7) I think my momma and papa should take a vacation. This of course means that all the pets get sent to Pet Hotel! It is cos of them scally-wags that my parents have not gone away on vacation for any length of time. Pets and vacations do not make good bed-fellows.

8) Although it may not cost much,I think Beethoven,my beloved mongrel pal should be sent to grooming. Better still have a personal butler to wait on him hand and foot....ermm...i mean paw and ...umm...paw.....

9) My bro has his entertainment company and maybe an injection of cash might just kickstart it to the next level.....(in return for part of the profits when it does well??)

10) Ten is a good round number to end this list...so.....maybe get a professional tank setter-upper guy to do a really cool marine tank for me.....way cool.......

Lazy Sunday?

If Saturday was slow...Sunday was even slower...

For some reason I could not sleep well at all. Maybe it had a little something to do with my alarm clock going off at 7 and a little something else to do with the timer on room fish tank lights coming on soon after (and brightening what was an otherwise dull morning). So I walked around all day in a daze.Too tired to be awake ,too awake to sleep. Zombie-like...

The springs in my mattress seem to dig into my back. Ouch! Could be another contributing factor. Being that my room is the one nearest to the living room and that we have one of those huge screen TV's there I am roused from my slumber by the morning news from Channel News Asia and America's Funniest Animals on most mornings.....geez......time to go out and buy some earmuffs and one of them waterbeds.....maybe then .....z z z z z z z.....

Oh....and how about that? England crushed France 24-7 and the All Blacks were sent packing 22-10 by the Wallabies. Who woulda thought?

On a more sombre note.....our prayers go out to the Lee family. First SM's wife, Kwa Geok Choo, 82, suffered a stroke while on a visit to Britain last month and then now SM's younger brother Dennis passes away. SM recently celebrated his 80th birthday recently. He also underwent prostrate surgery after returning from Britain. All this while he has managed to fulfill his engagements during these trying times. The true measure of a man (sorry Clay!)

Sex....in the City?

Looking at the newspapers today.....it seems all that Singapore thinks about is...surprise...SEX! For a nation voted one of the worst in international polls we sure like to talk about it. Front pages of the Straits Times and New Paper feature articles on date rape, the prowlers at night spots and up to date reports of the latest scandal in town, the molestation case involving former TV presenter Vidya Shankar Aiyar.

In a country ranked last for two straight years in a global list of most sexually active nations, and where fertility rates are falling, debate over laws on sex is growing .
Sustained public criticism of Singapore's semi-authoritarian government, and its laws, is extremely rare. But calls for the government to withdraw from the bedroom are filling Web chat rooms, buzzing around cafes and stirring protests from lawyers.

It seems that the previously 'bo-chap' Singaporeans have miraculously showed a great interest in Goverment policies and current affairs.

The criticisms come as the government struggles to relax censorship laws that now ban Playboy magazine, clip racy scenes from movies and scissor drug references from pop cultural magazines -- rules that have helped earn Singapore the well-known sobriquet of Asia's "nanny state".

Although a ban on "Sex and the City", the hit U.S. TV sitcom about a quartet of single women in New York, was lifted in September along with a 21-year ban on Cosmopolitan magazine, authorities have yet to air the show or allow "Cosmo" to go on sale.

But laws on sex are different, residents say, exposing a raw nerve in a country that only this year revealed that gays now worked in the public service -- a low-key policy shift aimed in part at fostering a creative class and attracting foreign talent.

Meanwhile, prostitution remains openly legal.

On Singapore's most fashionable shopping street, for example, a plaza with dry cleaning services, jewellers and golf stores is also filled with escort services and several floors of discos known as gathering points for women selling sex.
