a lion with an afro,anyone?

After work today I met up with Maybel for dinner. I drove over to her workplace to pick her up. Whilst waiting I did a little re-arranging and cleaning for Sunny. One of these days I have gotta do some spring cleaning for Sunny. There is so much junk in the boot. I think I could practically live on the contents of the boot. I have clothes, mats, tents and so many other stuff 'which I might need someday' in there.

I could have given Lyn a lift home(again) since she lives only a block or two away from where Maybel works. But I guess her insignificant other would get angry and pout till all the cows come home because he is so damn bloody insecure. That is a topic for another blog. This one is about Maybel..

After she had finished her stuff at the office Maybel came down to the road where I was and we drove off to wherever it was we were going to. In the end we opted for Burger King at the one at Market Street. Kinda strange to come all the way just to have Burger King in Shenton Way as the rest of the workforce is on their way out of town in the opposite direction..

As usual Maybel ate less than her share and I had to finish the rest of the portions. Something which I managed to a good extent except for the fries which were cold and not that palatable when cold. I even got to try the yam pie thingy which Maybel rated highly. It was good but a bit over-rated if you ask me. Maybel's description made it seem almost orgasmic.*LOL*. But to my disappointment it did not quite live up to it.

After dinner we walked back to the car park, where while waiting for Maybel to come out of the ladies I inspected the wares of the Mamak shop in the lobby. On display prominently near the door in the glass showcase were boxes of condoms. Since no one was around I took the opportunity to examine the boxes ...errm...more meticulously. So now I know the difference between Super Safe,Extra Fine,Ribbed, Dimpled, Flavoured, Scented and Standard. This information might come in useful someday.

On the drive home, Maybel commented that my soft toy tiger looks like a bear. I think she did it just to get a rise out of me. She does things like that in good fun just like I do to her in turn. She also throughout the ride kept styling my soft toy lions mane into all manner of hair styles, which I found hilarious. The final style was after her own hairstyle. I must say the resemblance is uncanny. :P

I dropped her off at the 7-eleven near her house as she had to buy some bread for her mum.

extinguishing the eternal flame

I just hate how it feels to be ignored by Joyce. Till now I do not know why she is treating me this way. What did I ever do to deserve this?
She is my ex. Ex as in former, past and ended. I wish she would just grow up and realise that if she does not want me there are many others who do treasure me as an individual and as a person. She subscribes to all these so called 'mature' ideals about how a person should be yet her actions speak volumes about how shallow she can be at times.
Is it even wrong for a single and available guy like me to go to church with a female friend? I think she should be giving me her blessings rather than acting this way. It is almost as if she can't have me no one else can. The irony is that she was the one who initiated the break up.
I guess she still feels she owns me yet does not want to spend the rest of her life with me.
I probaly should not let this matter bother me so much but it does. I really treasure her friendship and I cherish the times we spent together. But it is about time we BOTH moved on...

Arrgh!

Was supposed to meet Jackie *sigh* for dinner today but in the end opted out. I was just too concerned about Lyn and my heart was not in it anyway.
Anyway we had agreed to meet for dinner despite the awkwardness.Awkwardness of what you may ask? Well on Monday she kinda confessed that she 'liked' me. But I do not like her in that way. So it woulda been kinda awkward to meet up so soon after that 'confession'.
Jackie is a real decent girl with a good heart. But I do not feel comfortable with her.In fact we do not really enjoy any sort of connection,at least on my part. She irritates me in so many ways.I just get so pissed with her at times. Maybe it is not her,it is me. But I cannot ever imagine being with someone like her.
I know it is unfair of me to treat her like this but I really cannot change how I feel. She does not do anything for me.Period.Probably no matter what she does or says can change my mind.
I do not even know if we can even consider ourselves friends...

Arrgh!

Coffee?

Had supper with Rachelle again last night. I hope this does not become a habit.A habit I throughly enjoy but a habit that has its own negatives as well. I really do enjoy her company. She is a ray of sunshine into even my darkest day.
I guess I am a sucker for heart-to-heart conversations and with her we can chat about just about anything. Nothing is really taboo. We keep open minds which is always refreshing.

I just wish we could do other stuff besides meeting for late prata suppers.I am sure in time we will....

wishing for a heart that feels

Had a lovely chat with Vanessa online last night. She has views that I mostly agree with. She has her head screwed on the right way...for now at least. We chatted about Joyce among other things. I guess she holds many of the same opinions as I. I just hope and pray that the 'realities' of life do not take away her honesty and truth as they so often do.
She claims that people she meets might find her boring. I beg to differ. If what she says in our conversations is anything to go by I think she is fascinating.

St. Anger

I just had an SMS conversation with my beloved sis Lyn. She was feeling bored and sms-ed me. So I asked her if she wanted to meet up. She said she wanted to but she would have to ask Poh and she was afraid if she did he would get angry.

I just feel so helpless. Wish I could tell her she deserves better than him. I cannot believe Poh could be so self centred. He is beneath her and yet she is so 'submissive' to him. If I was in her shoes I would be out of there in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I am not and Lyn's heart remain with that scumbag.
I can only hope and pray that someday she will realise he is not worth all this pain...

As I was driving back this song came on the radio and I immediately connected the lyrics to Lyn.

The sky has lost its color
The sun has turned to gray
At least that's how it feels to me
Whenever you're away
I crawl up in the corner
as I watch the minutes pass
each one brings me closer to
The time you'll be back; you're coming back

I can't take the distance
I can't take the miles
I can't take the time until the next time I see you smile
I can't take the distance
And I'm not ashamed
That I can't take a breath without seeing your name

And I can brave a hurricane
and still be standing tall
when all the dust has settled down
but i cant take the distance.

I still believe in feelings
But sometimes I feel too much
I make believe you're close to me
But it ain't close enough
Not nearly close enough

I can't take the distance
I can't take the miles
I can't take the time until the next time I see you smile
I can't take the distance
And I'm not ashamed
That I cant take a breath without seeing your name
And I can brave a hurricane
and still be standing tall
when all the dust has settled down
but i cant take the distance.
I can't take the distance
I can't take the miles
I can't take the time until the next time I see you smile
I can't take the distance
And I'm not ashamed
That I cant take a breath without seeing your name

I cant take the distance, the distance

I'd brave fire.
And I'd brave rain.
To be by your side, I'd do anything.
I can't take the distance.

I will go the distance.
I will go the miles.
That's how much you mean to me.

Cause I can't take the distance
I can't take these miles
I can't take the time until I next see you smile
I can't take the distance
And I'm not ashamed
That with every breath I take I'm calling your name.

It's harder to remember
The longer you're away.
When I find silence.
I don't want the distance.
It's harder to remember
The longer you're away.
When I find silence.
I can't take the distance.
It's harder to remember
The longer you're away.
When I find silence.

Mysterious lady read my blog today

I let Vanessa read my blog!! hahahaaa...no idea why i posted this here.

Here's to you vanessa....

Weekend wrap-up

Sunday

I started the day with a drive to Ubi to pick up Neeven (and her mum and Dillon, her adorable son) to go to church. Neeven's mum wanted to go marketing at Tampines and Dillon normally follows mummy to church where he attends Sunday School.
The service was great. At least I felt more at home than I did the previous week. The previous week's service was basically a prayer service where there was no message preached. And the choice of music for Praise and Worship then were not what I was used to. This weeks service was much better and Pastor Rony's message was great as well. I left the sanctuary feeling renewed and cleansed.

After that we met up with Neeven's mum at the nearby market. There Dilon and I picked up a few pointers from the 2 mummies on how to pick fruits. We then adjourned for lunch at the nearby coffee shop at Dillon's behest. I had a double serving of lunch. I had char siew rice and a nonya dumpling.
I then drove the party home. Neeven invited me up for a drink and to take a look at some photos. There I met Neeven's niece who lives with them. She had chicken pox and was thus unable to join us earlier. It was fun looking through the photos guessing where they were taken. I also had fun playing with Dillon. He is such a joy to be around.I am sure mummy is very proud of him.

After that I drove home to relax before meeting Karen. Unfortunately or not Karen messaged me to tell me that she was unable to make it as she had to rush an assignment. So I just sat at home wondering what to do with the rest of the day...
Just then Noel messaged me to ask me where I was. I told him I was at home. He then asked me if I was keen to go and watch soccer at the National Stadium.I readily agreed. In a while we were both ready and off to the match(es).

During the Malaysia Cup days I used to go there for every Singapore home match. There was no experience quite like being in a stadium with 60,000 other red-blooded fans cheering on the Lions to glory. The spectacle of it all! As the Kallang Roar shook the entire arena and as the Kallang Wave crashed upon you it was very hard not to get drawn into the match infront of you. Glory days indeed...
The veterans match between Singapore and Selangor went down well with all involved. It was great just seeing all these stars of a bygone era gracing the pitch once more. They got a better crowd reaction than the current Singapore team (I do not dare label them Lions)did. It is significant to note that the crowd did not do the Kallang Wave once...not even once....when the Singapore Team was on the pitch. Anyway...the veterans match ended tied at 3-3 and penalties ensued which was subsequently won by the visiting Selangor veterans team.
Inconsequently, the Singapore team drew with Selangor 2-2 and thus shared the cup!

After the match I sent Noel and Leonard (who joined us later) to Tanglin Mall. They asked me to join them at the pub but I declined. I opted instead to go meet Rachelle for supper!!!

I met Rachelle at the car park near her block and we went to the new prata place at Upper Thomson. The prata there is really nice and crispy. Best part is it is not oily like other prata joints I frequent. Rachelle and I will be paying them a visit some time soon again...

Weekend wrap-up

Saturday

I worked on Saturday as I had exchanged my Saturday off with Hasli who was going to Batam for a short holiday. The 15th also happened to be Lyn's birthday. So I discreetly gave her her gift and placed in under her table with her knowledge. After work, we had cake. I pray Lyn be blessed in all things and that the favor of God be upon her.

After that I gave Anna and Cheng a lift to Orchard. I myself did some shopping at Heeren, Centrepoint, OG and John Littles. I bought some t-shirts and bermudas from Robinsons. A slinky and a sign for the office from Heeren. A CF card for my digi cam from one of the shops at Centrepoint.A bag from O.G.

After that I drove to Sentosa. There I just lazed about on the beach ogling all the tanned and fit nubile babes in their tiny bikini's. It was fun just doing that on the spur of the moment (although I have been wanting to go to Palawan beach to relax for a few weeks now). Anyway, next time I go I am bringing Rachelle along for company.Maybe Coco can come too if the little bitch wants to.

After showering, I drove to meet Jackie for a movie. It seems like Sunny is not doing well. The temperature gauge showed her going into the red zone. Meaning:I had to top up her water and coolant for the radiator. After picking up Jackie we drove to the nearbt Shell at Moulmein. There I did the necessary with a little help from one of the guys there who helped 'novice' me to get Sunny up and running again. I did not get his name but thank you to who ever you are...
After that I drove to Balestier Plaza(?) to watch Troy.
Troy is good if you like your movies to be visceral and have epic scale. It is truly a technological marvel and awe inspiring at times. For the ladies there is always Brad Pitt (who seems to be naked alot in the movie) and Orlando Bloom. However I found that Eric Bana as Hector had the most emotional depth.Matter of fact the Trojans came across as a noble people as opposed to the Greeks which seem egomaniacal and corrupt with a few exceptions.
