Rivers that lead to the sea

Finally.

After much ado and procratination Carolyn and I finally met! It has been like too long since we last met. For 2 people who have so much in common and keep in such regular contact it is surprising that we took this long to finally meet up again.

Me being me, we had a hard time picking a place to go or an activity to do. We initially wanted to catch a movie but somehow things did not go that way. We faced difficulties finding one that we both wanted to see (which later proved to be a blessing in a way). So we decided to have just dinner.

After running a few errands I drove over to fetch Carrie. We then proceeded to Bark's Cafe for dinner. Bark's Cafe is my most favourite cafe. It is not well known, the food is great and the atmosphere is wonderful for a night out. Carrie and I had a great time just sitiing there and chatting. She is such a fun person to be with. She makes me laugh and it is almost uncanny how our life experiences and perceptions on matters are so similiar.

After dinner I proposed we go for a walk. I brought her to Changi Boardwalk. She really enjoyed the place. After our walk I sent her home where she was gonna catch a movie with her family. She watched Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. A woman after my own heart. :P

Later that night both of us came online and chatted for a bit (actually a few hours..til 3 am). So I might be meeting her later today. We may go down to the beach and chill out and just basically hang out if things work out at our respective sides. So looking forward to meeting her again.

The sorry conclusion

The next morning Lyn messaged me to request back all the belongings she had in my car. Among the items were a pair of socks and P-plates. She asked me if I understood and I told her I did. She said she did not want to do or be in a situation which made Poh angry. I do try to understand and really I do not know what I would do if I were in his position. But when you really come down to it I feel deeply hurt.

Lyn and I have a wonderful relationship. She is one of the few people in this world whom I would trust with my very life. We shared so many happy times since we got to know one another. I lost count of the number of times she pulled me out of the pit of despair. I can only hope that I had done the same to her too. Lyn is truly a wonderful, wonderful person and someone I am very proud and pleased to call my sister and soulmate.

Love is blind. We hear that said too many times but I think it applies here too. Not just to Poh and Lyn but Lyn and me as well. Sometime we do things without ever thinking things through in the name of love and all that it encapsulates. I do not nor ever will regret going out with Lyn. Poh may be peeved about it but that is something that he has to learn to deal with.

My only hope that Lyn someday finds true love...and someone who truly treasures her as much as she deserves.

In the gutter

After dinner we went to Cathay Cineleisure for bowling. Lyn and Poh were one team. May and I the other. At stake were movie tickets for the eventual winners.

Poh was in devastating form in the first game. Me? I was just warming up...

So Lyn and Poh won the first set. May and I won all the rest!! So I guess we may have won a pair of movie tickets but lost so much more.

After the bowling session we all went home. The by-now-sober Poh sent the two ladies home. I drove home...alone. I guess it was never a good idea in the first place. But plaundits to Lyn for at least trying. *muack*

Moments of our lives

When we got to the Heeren, Poh was not at Marche. He had gone upstairs and soon joined us downstairs. Must have been the interminable waiting since he had been waiting since 6 and we only got there after 7.

From the moment Poh walked in I knew something was wrong. He refused to make eye contact let alone make casual conversation. So much for the best laid plans. He was acting like a complete jerk so much so that Lyn even apologised for his 'shitty attitude'. I guess I should have seen that one coming a mile off. So unsurprisingly it was kinda tense around the dining table. Poh made it a point to show how displeased he was at the proceedings and even drank a hat-trick of beers as a public declaration of his disdain. I was glad when it was over.

rolling stones gather no moss

Lyn and Poh arranged that we all meet for dinner at Marche and bowling. 'we all' being Lyn,Poh,May and I. It at the time seem a good idea. Was a great opportunity for me and Poh to get to know one another.

The first obstacle we had to face was finding May. She had taken sick and was supposed to be at home resting. But she failed to reply to all our SMSes and calls. So I called her office and found that she had come in to do some urgent work. Lyn and I drove over to her office to pick her then proceeded to Heeren where Poh was awaiting our timely arrival.

Walk On

And love
It's not the easy thing
The only baggage
That you can bring
Not the easy thing
The only baggage you can bring
Is all that you can't leave behind

And if the darkness is to keep us apart
And if the daylight feels like it's a long way off
And if your glass heart should crack
Before the second you turn back
Oh no, be strong

You could have flown away
A singing bird
In an open cage
Who will only fly
Only fly for freedom

days of glory

Worked in the morning. Ended late. Ai Khim told me that she would not be joing us for the BBQ later. I think that sucked for a number of reasons. Firstly the short notice. She knew about the bbq since the beginning but only now decided to 'let us know' of her decision. Secondly the fact that she would not be going because Joyce was not going. So what does that make us? Her enemies? Is she trying to tell me that she cannot get along with us or even have a decent conversation? Lots of other reason that just should not be written here.

May messaged me to let me know that she needed me to come pick her up from her office. On a side note she also wanted me to come up to help her carry some 'heavy' files down that she needed to bring home (which I ultimately found out was a ruse to get me to come up and meet this girl that she had been trying to set me up with). The CTE was jammed due to some accident and traffic was slow. So I instead detoured to get to May. What was supposed to be a faster way took me a full hour! I got to her office at around 2.30 plus.

May told me of her plan to make a fruit salad. We went to the afore said fruit stall and purchased a watermelon and pineapple. Before that we walked across to Tiong Bahru Plaza to buy Mac's as May went to Cold Storage to buy 'hotdogs'. We both then went to 'Her Place' to cut the fruits. As all this was happening I was receiving SMS'es from Lyn and Hasli about our whereabouts. I felt sore that we had to make all of them wait for us for so long. The charcoal for the bbq was in my car so they could not start without us. *sigh*

We were already late and here we were cutting fruits! I was fuming. Worst part was how May was so particular about how I cut the fruits (the shape, the size...etc...). It made the fruit cutting a process too tedious for my liking. Being that we were already desperately late and that everyone was anxiously waiting for us at the pit I just could not help but feel that May still has a lot of growing up to do as far as priorities and responsibilities go.

After that I drove to Labrador Park (with May!). I messaged Lyn and Hasli upon our arrival. Lyn messaged back ' :( ' . Oh dear....

I think everyone knew i was either in a bad mood or just plain moody. But after a while I got my groove back (at least what little grooviness i had before) and was even actually able to crack a *gasp* smile.

The fact was that everyone was so nice about our tardiness. I felt rotten that they had to wait but I was a fool to go along with May's plan in the first place.

Then the moment had arrived! The much anticipated sunset was finally dawning (I dunno how that works but it makes sense grammatically). It paled in comparision to the one the day prior when I was there but at least I got to share it with someone very near and dear to me. I even got to take a few (actually too many to count) snapshots of the sun in its various stages with Hasli's new digital camera. some came out blurry and others over-exposed but most came out alright in the end.

As soon as the bbq was over and done with we packed up our stuff. Just about then the heavens opened and rain poured forth. We packed off to the covered pavillion and were joined by close to 30 others from another pit which I presume were Filipinos. Those Filipinos really know how to have a good time. Give them a guitar and some food and they are set for a night of merriment.

After the rain had begun to subside, the three guys carted off some of the stuff to Poh's car and then returned to pick up the 3 ladies and the rest of the stuff to my car(in that particular order if my memory serves me correctly).

I gave Hasli and Faezah a lift to Yishun while Poh ever gallantly allowed Lyn to drive to home sweet home with May in tow.
