dirty, rotten scoundrels

Feel rotten today. It has to do with Khim. Yesterday I did the DMM report for most of the day. This was as well as my usual duties. So this morning Khim asked me if I had faxed the letter to all the orchid plant traders as she had asked me to. I told her no.She then gave me this look which conveyed irritation/disappointment/disgust all at once and stormed out of the room....

Sometimes I wonder if it is worthwhile to try your best in what you do to only get the short end of the stick time and time again. I would think that I am a model worker(time for a little self-indulgence and trumpet blowing here).I work hard,do things without complaint, highly versatile and knowledgeable. And those are only my bad points..lol...

The point is I am beginning to feel depressed again.Khim and what she does has drained the life out of me over the last year or so. I dread going to work now. My productivity has dropped markedly since she took over the section. My morale is at an all time low! I do not see any way or form that I can work with her. I remember how at the end of the year how she said that we would strive to make things better and get things moving. So far she has not kept her own side of the deal. She is still the distant,self-absorbed supervisor I always had. She seems preoccupied with her own stuff and does not seem to care what happens to me. She claims she knows and understands what I am going through, but does she really? I just cannot fathom how any section head can just leave their section to run by itself.Does she not realise that she is the one that has to literally lead her staff? It is not that I want praise or attention for my work. But I just wish she would get off her high horse and see the situation at the ground level. It is easy to criticise your staff. But when push comes to shove it is respect and trust that will pull you through the difficulties.Sadly that is lacking on both our parts.Till we both can put aside our petty differences and act like adults this problem cannot be resolved.

PLEASE LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS!

I noticed that many of the readers to my site have not been leaving any comments. It must be either they have no opinions to offer or they cannot be bothered to do so.

Please do leave comments. It is much appreciated to by the writer. At least I know that someone is reading my blog and what you guys think about what I write here.

Cash donations are also most welcome.

Nasi Lemak and something about a boardwalk

Met Jackie for dinner. Initially we planned to go to the airport for ice-cream but we went to Changi Village instead. There we ate nasi lemak from the so-called less popular nasi lemak stall. In my estimation the nasi lemak sold there is better than the other more famous one.

After dinner we went to Changi Boardwalk to walk a bit and get some digestion going. It was kinda cool just to sit on the bench at the Sunset Walk overlooking the sea with no one around and just talk..and talk. We spent nearly 2 1/2 hours there. I think that was the only meaningful conversation we both have ever had. At least it is an improvement...
In the end there was no ice cream..

After that I drove Jackie home. She slept all the way. She looked really spaced out when she woke up at her home . :P

Monday...I am in love...with my xbox game

After work came home and played Star Wars- Knights of the Old Republic. It is really fun with so many characters and environments to explore.

That was until Neeven and came online! So we had fun making lots of noise and talking crap. It also happened to be Dillon's birthday on the 25. So we sang an awful rendition of Happy Birthday...

Thou shall honour the Sabbath...

Sunday

Neeven joined me for service at NCC today. I fetched her from home and we drove there in time to catch the 2 pm service. She was amazed by the long queue that snaked nearly to Courts. As she was a 'first-timer' we joined the queue for guest.
After service we had dinner at the foodcourt, explored the Fountain of Wealth and then I sent her home. She was gonna go for service at LE Tampines at 7.

Ogres and vampires

Over the weekend I managed to catch 2 movies; Van Helsing and Shrek 2.
On Friday I managed to watch Van Helsing with Maybel. Actually we had planned to catch the 7 pm show at Lido but Maybel was held up at work so we had to go see the 9.30 one at Orchard Cineplex instead. We had dinner before that at a fine korean restaurant at The Heeren. I even managed to get a discount coupon for our next time there. And we will be going there again soon before 22 June!
Van Helsing is one of those effects laden movies which make you go 'wow' during and leave you feeling empty after you leave the theatre. The plot is simple yet effective. Hugh Jackman plays the title role which somehow is not disimilar to his career making role as Wolverine in the X-Men franchise. The same brooding anti-hero with a dark past battling strange freaks of nature. David Wenham in the role of Van Helsings loyal sidekick,Carl, steals the show as he provides the comic relief. Of some note also is Shuler Hensley as Dr Frankenstein's monster. It was a role that required subtlety and nuance which I think was achieved to bring acroos the tender and good to be found in such an abomination of nature. However I think Kate Beckinsdale is wasted in the role of Princess Anna Valerious. Her portrayal of a spunky princess hell-bent (pun intended) on the demise of the already dead Count Dracula left much to be desired. That coupled together with an atrocious attempt at a eastern european accent made my skin crawl.Richard Roxburgh hams it up as the arch villain of the piece Count Dracula. Of particular note are all the pop references to other action films like Star Wars,Indiana Jones,Die Hard, James Bond and Alens among others.

Speaking of pop references,I managed to catch Shrek 2 with Jackie on Saturday. It must be the smartest and most hilarious movie of the year. If the first one made Disney roll in his grave, the second installment just made sure he does a dance. This time the story moves out of the swampland where Shrek resides into Far Far Away Land.Along with the culture shock of Shrek in the big city and meeting the in-laws made for one laugh-a-minute ride where all story book conventions are thrown out the door and the ogres wins the hand of the princess. Puss in Boots (voiced by Antonio Banderas) steals the show with his campy antics. The wide-eyed-lovable-pussy-cat scenes have to be seen!

After the movie, we both went to the Zion Road food centre for dinner(or is it supper?).
