brrreeeport - back to reality

brrreeeport

Been a while since I blogged here. Actually been a while since I have really come online. So no blog posts, have not been checking my mail and all. It is amazing how much time you have without my PC. It really shows how 'addicted' I am to the Net. In the time that would have otherwise have been use surfing the net and chatting etc, is instead used to read, work out, clean or other such things that I find little time to do in my daily schedule. I should maybe limit the hours online I go or specify certain days for coming online so I can do all my stuff.

Soccer Stuff
Liverpool finally beat Man U in the FA Cup after 85 long years (abd even longer since they beat em in the cup at home!). The downside was the horrific injury to Alan Smith towards the end of normal time. As much as I despise the ground Man U walks on, it is always unfortunate when someone gets hurt the way Alan did. It is a season ending injury which may even see him missing a big chunk of next season as well. It may even be possible that it may end his career.
Wigan still continue to defy the odds. We see them next in the Carling Cup Final against Man U. I am behind them all the way in that. I love underdogs.
Champions League football is coming up too. 2 fixtures I wanna see are the Chelski vs Barca and Arsenal vs Real matches.

V Day
Agnes and I celebrated Valentines Day. Our first as a couple too. The last time we celebrated V-Day we were not yet a couple. This time we went down to Boat Quay. It was hard choosing a place with so many restaurants there. In the end we settled for Salsa TexMex. The food was nothing spectacular, but the atmosphere takes some beating. The selling point is the seating area on the 6th floor. Up there you are high above all the other buildings in the immediate vicinity. You have a nice view of the Singapore River and the various sights in the vicinity. And all of that is flanked by the familar singapore skyline. It also sports one of those old style lifts which resemble a cage. Coolness! After dinner we walked around a bit in the vicinity. There was a nice outdoor movie screening at the open area outside Caltex House.

Our first year
Today marks our first year together. How time flies. Find it hard to believe a year has come and gone. So how did we celebrate? Well...we did not meet up today...

.....instead we celebrated yesterday. We met up and went down to Parkway Parade. The real reason was to look for Agnes's ring which she had lost the day before whilst rummaging for clothes. My hunch was that it was lost at Giordano, as I had likewise almost lost my ring whilst digging under the piles of clothing there. True enough the guy we asked had indeed found a ring, and it was Agnes's ring! Phew! What a relief. It would have been a real dampener on our special day if the ring had indeed been lost. The pair of rings we bought more than anything else signify our relationship. We had gotten them made when we had been together barely a month. They may not have cost much but they hold great value to us intrinsically. To show our appreciation we went to Marks and Spensers and bought the Giordano staff a box of chocolates. Upon Agnes's presentation to the guy who had found it, he had to consult his superiors and such. Mind you, the store was full at the time. So it was quite the scene.Poor Agnes was left beet red therafter by the attention her kind gesture had garnered. After all that drama we went shopping around for gifts for each other. I had been wanting a bluetooth headset, and Agnes sort of wanted a new phone. We also visited the Sam's Place at the cemtral. There we got into looking at the various dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters on display. In the end neither of us got anything from there. We then settled on dinner at Cosy Bay at kallang. Cosy Bay holds a place in our hearts as that was the place we had dinner that fateful day a year ago. Once more the food was nothing spectacular, but Cosy Bay affords a wonderful view especially at dusk. The sunset is a sight to behold. Although it can be a tad glaring on a clear day. After that we headed to Funan Centre on a whim. There we really did get our gifts. Agnes got a bag for her laptop,a couple of 'ball-protectors',a printer cartridge and a mousepad(I think that is all...)
...and I got my bluetooth earpiece! We then headed back to my place for the real celebration...

Hamster here, hamsters there
The only thing standing between me (us) and having hamsters now is my solitary lobster in a tank. I could of course put him in a smaller tank or mix him with other fish, but until I figure out what to do with him, he is here to stay. But hamsters will indeed make a nice addtion to my menagerie. The online drawbacks are the smell they will undoubtedly add and the danger my resident felines might pose to the little fellas.

driving
One of life's finest pleasures, at least for me, is driving Sunny around. There is something so satisfying about that moment when you and your car become one. Almost surreal at times. It is that moment when you are in the 'zone'. Everything else becomes a blur. Your every thought prompts the desired reaction from your ride. You think to go left and the car moves left. You want to slow down and the car follows it through. sweeeet!

Woo me!
Is a relationship legit if the guy does not actively go about wooing the girl? Sometimes the guy and the girl start off as platonic friends and then nature starts to take it's course and sparks fly. They profess feelings for one another and officially become an item. There was no overt woo-ing or grand gestures from the guy towards the girl prior to their attachment. Does this make their relationship any less legitimate? Some girls (and guys) just love the chase. To them the relationship is not quite complete without that rite of passage.

Had planned to say much more than this after my hiatus but kinda lost my train of thought. Goes to show it is best to blog soon after the fact...
