movies galore...

It is the summer and it is time for the summer blockbusters.

Movies i watched recently:

Lie With Me
A movie about sex and finding true love. What happens when 2 prosmiscious people find love in each other? Are they able to give up their previous lives and commit to one another? Anyway that is what the film tries to portray. But the movie is really about the sex scenes, although they are not as graphic as could have been. left the cinema feeling empty and depressed. in my view a waste of money.

Mission Impossible III(M:I:3)

Ethan Hunt is back and bigger than better. J Abram helms this one and his influence shows. The cast is bigger and better this time round. And the action set pieces are eye popping. The quintessential Summer Blockbuster with all the explosions and action sequences. Maggie Q, Philip Seymour Hoffman,Keri Russell and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers join the ensemble cast.

Ratings 4 1/2 out of 5 exploding ferraris

Poseidon
A film remake of the 1972 movie of the same name. It is contemporalised(sic) to 2005. So there are hamdphones and all the she-bangs of modern living. Also with the advent of CGI and huge sound stages, they were able to recreate what a real ship woulda been like. In my view the ship appeared too clean and sterile. I know it is supposed to be a relatively new ship, but surely they could have done a better representation of it in terms of shadowing and all. The cast is not A-List which perhaps works to the films advantage. So the story is that a rogue wave hits the huge ship and causes it to overturn! The story then goes to how a group of survivors work their way to the bottom (top?) of the ship as the rest of the passengers and crew perish when they decide to remain below (top??). It has it moments, but nothing new or groundbreaking was ventured in this piece.

Movies i wanna catch
The Da Vinci Code
Many churches are against the screening of this movie. In my view it is healthy for all believers to examine their beliefs and question the status quo. I think by watching the movie and making an informed opinion will only strenghten ones faith. Anyway a it is bound to be a good movie.

Over the Hedge
The latest offering from Dreamworks. I seen the trailers and all and it sure looks like a good one.

X-men:The Last Stand
The final in the trilogy. A pity though as I think the X-men franchise has the legs to go on even longer. There are so many other plots and characters yet to be introduced from the X-men universe. But this one looks to be the best one yet if that is any consolation.

a stream of consciousness

sometimes I wish I could do better sometimes I am just not good enough love her so much but I always seem to let her down i hate this feeling all i want is to make her happy but my hurt just wun go away need love and attention so close yet so far away feel so lonely at times dunno what to say or wat to do wish we will always be together but never apart want to all all i can to make her happy she is the most precious thing to me even if i dun say it often enough or maybe i say it too much looking fwd our lives together a family a life to be a good husband and a good father to give of my best to my family and my lovely wife to love her with every ounce of my strength and every part of my being to let love be our guide and to fill each day with love and joy no tears no more frowns no dark days to give my best to make her happy to open up my heart and myself top her to confide my deepest fears and pains to hug her to sleep at night to kiss her each morning to walk thru life knowing i am never alone not ever not even for a moment my greatest fear is to be alone to be lonely but sometimes letting go of the past is so hard you been hurt and dun want to be hurt again

rambling on

Agnes and I are going off to Bintan this weekend for a short trip. We will be staying at Bintan Lagoon Resort. Gonna be lotsa fun. Funny thing is although we been together more than a year already we have never actually gone on holiday together. I have accompanied her on her work-related overseas trips but that was about it. The closest we have come to that was the Batam trip where Agnes had lots of free time that we could spend together. Other than that our Desaru trip was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Mimi(my hamster) gave birth to 5 more pups. That makes it 9. Buffy also recently gave birth to 3 pups. So I now have a total of 17 hamsters under my charge. Will prob give away some of the pups to friends and members of SHC. Thinking about combining the 2 litters to make one big hamster colony. If possible I could get the mums together. Talk about a matriachial family!

Sunny is overdue for his regular servicing. Last servicing was in december. Poor Sunny, he travels so far and so much with me.And never complains and serves me so well. Gonna miss him when we have to part ways...

The elections came and went. The ruling PAP managed to amass 66.6 percent of the votes which incidentally is the number of the Anti-Christ (6-6-6). The Opposition made in-roads,especially the Worker's Party who have a creditable account for themselves. Looks like they are gonna come back bigger and stronger in the next elections. PM Lee faced a young team from the Workers Party. He had forecasted a 80%+ win but got a 66% instead. Quite remarkable considering he is the Prime Minister and facing him was a relative team of unknowns, quite appropriately called the Suicide Squad. The fact that they managed to garner 34% of the votes and get back their deposits says alot. And how can I talk about the team without mentioning about the shining star and poster girl of the Workers Party, Glenda Han? Met her only once in person, but she came across as sincere and sweet girl out to make a difference. She currently runs a pub and used to own Ig's Heaven chain until she sold it off to new owners. But most importantly she has the vrains and the heart. I expect to see much more of her in the years to come.

Middlesborough crashed and burned in the UEFA Cup finals, falling 4-0 to Sevilla. Quite ominous when you think that their manager,Steve McClaren, is gonna be the next England manager. If he could not motivate his team to win the UEFA Cup how is he gonna be able to perform in the international arena? Liverpool beat West Ham in the FA Cup finals. Was a pulsating match which ended 3-3 at the end of normal and extra time. It then went to penalties which Liverpool won due to the goalkeeping heroics of Jose Reina. Shades of Istanbul there. All that is left is the big one, the Champions League Final showdown between Arsenal and Barcelona. I want Arsenal to nick it as I am english through and through. But admittedly Barcelona have the better team and depth. But Arsenal have done well to get so far. Who is to say they cannot pull another famous victory out of the hat.
And then it is the highlight of the summer, World Cup 2006 in Germany. I pick England to go all the way (see above). Even without a fully fit Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen they still have one of the best England squads since 1966. It remains to be seen how Sven Goran Eriksson plays with the cards dealt to him. But he has made some interesting squad selections which could either blow up in his face or pay off spectacularly. An exciting summer is in the offing...
