Singapore Motorshow

This blog is starting to resemble more of a photo blog than a diary or commentary.

Anyway today, I went to the 8th Singapore Motorshow. Took some pictures as usual.

The main attraction are the cars. But the desirable females next to the cars did not go amiss.

P1060907
Some have the classy look down pat.

P1060898
..some obviously having a good time

P1060890 P1060888
Hmm...nice curves...

P1060909
P1060866
The most cartoonish car I ever seen.Even the upholstery was like someone's curtain gone missing. Everyone thought so too.

But that was until the model came along. And then everyone concurred that it was 'not bad'.

P1060882
Wonder if it woulda been nicer if she wore black....

P1060875
Obviously someone just woke up,...or is having a really bad day....

P1060872
Big car, little woman.

P1060859
Even the dogs had their day...

P1060852
She looks eerily like a mannequin.

P1060846
The european models were somewhat overshadowed by the asian ones. And I am not talking about the cars.

P1060841
So...kawaiiiiii....

P1060827
The beginners kit for all aspiring car owners

P1060826
Just love this car. Looks almost like a tank. Sexy!

the semblance of a business plan

This is the plan:

  1. Sell off Sunny
  2. Get a Kangoo
  3. Register my company
  4. Quit my current crappy job by February or March
  5. Source for products
  6. Sell them online
  7. Deliver the ordered goods
  8. Repeat steps 5 to 7 as often as necessary

Some of my products are locally found. But there will also be a significant amount sourced from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. I may even port in stuff from the EU or US if I think there is a market. The sourcing part is most fun to me. I plan to go on shopping trips overseas from time to time if possible. I am sure Agnes will enjoy this too (if time permits).

The online aspect will be mostly eBay and Yahoo Auctions. Many have made a fortune this way. The costs are minimal and I can do it all myself. A positive, as owning a shop will incur costs for rentals and employing staff. Although I do intend to eventually open a store.

My day at Kranji War Memorial

.Was not quite a day...more like an hour. But still managed to take quite a few pictures.

As in the case of the Botanic Garden's trip, it started to rain, so I had to cut short my trip. But thankfully I managed to get all the shots I wanted.

Dedicated to the men and women from United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka, India, Malaya, the Netherlands and New Zealand who died defending Singapore and Malaya against the invading Japanese forces during World War II, it comprises of the War Graves, the Memorial Walls, the State Cemetery, and the Military Graves.

The War Graves is the final resting place for 4,458 allied servicemen in marked graves laid out in rows on maintained and manicured lawns. Over 850 of these graves are unidentifiable. The Memorial Walls inscribes over 25,000 names of allied servicemen whose bodies were never found, spread over both sides of 12 columns of the war memorial itself

A red poppy next to the name. You can find quite a number of those around the various memorial walls. Probably placed by friends or relatives.

In the 'safe' is the guest book where all can sign their names or write tributes. On the left in that cabinet are books listing the names of all the people who are found at the memorial.

.
Kranji War Memorial is I feel, a very special place. It is a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life. And it is such a well maintained and clean garden. Everytime I go there I am left with a greater appreciation for all those that made our way of life possible. Every headstone there belongs to someone's son or daughter, husband or wife, child or parent. All died for a cause they believed in, so that people like us may someday be able blog about it. Makes you realise how much had been sacrificed.

Botanic Gardens (with Agnes)

The other day Agnes and I headed down to SBG. We took some pics. Was a fun day, but it started to rain heavily later on in the day so we had to cut short our trip.

So we went to Orchard to shop after that!

Anyway, here are some pics of some of the stuff we saw at SBG:

bird on a wire

Much to write since I was last here, but I do not know where to start... but here it goes anyway...

Seems like ever since I started blogging more regularly, my readership and number of comments I received has dipped. Wonder if there is any correlation between the 2.

Was my birthday on Halloween. We (mum, dad, agnes and I ) went to Handle Bar. The place is cool, but the food was so so.

Agnes bought me a DVD player. Yayyy...now can watch DVD's and VCD's in the comfort of my room!!

Parents gave a card and some cash.

Been thinking long and hard about my business venture. Thanks to all those who have been giving me valuable advice and sharing their experience.

Firstly, the vehicle which will be an integral part of my business for getting my goods and distributing it. Almost certainly a Renault Kangoo is the vehicle of choice.

Then, the small matter of a name of my little company. Been tossing about a few ideas. Initially I was thinking of something that includes 'Lion' or 'Whitelion' since those titles are virtually synonymous with my online presence. But maybe something which sounds more official sounding and appropriate to my business venture might be called for instead.

Then there is the issue of what exactly my venture will be. One part of me wants to specialise in one area (e.g. pet shop, pet goods & accessories), yet another part of me wants to pursue a wider scope of things (e.g. cameras, video games, computer hardware, books, pet stuff, toys, collectibles etc). But there is still time to iron out the details. Another case of whether to put all my eggs in one basket,or spread my resources to cast a wider net.

And then there is the decision to make between a physical shop or an online one. An online shop would be cheaper but I am limited by the number of people visiting my site or viewing my products. On the other hand, a physical shop would involve more capital, rentals and upfront liquid assets. At this point it would seem that an online shop would be the better option. I can work from home and such. And less to pay for owning and maintaining a store.
There is also the third option of one of those pushcarts you see at shopping centres. But those are not too cheap either, especially in the bigger shopping centres.

On a lighter note, re-arranged my room yet again. This time the bed occupies the area in the middle of the room.all the stuff that was behind the bed are now lined up along the wall by the door. I think it is better now. At least Agnes will feel more roomy on the bed. *snigger*

Also found one of my hammies dead yesterday. Probably a victim of a grisly attack. I am still not sure if it was Momo or not. But most likely it was. *sob* By the time I found it it was already beyond recognition. My hamster colony is now smaller after all the recent adoptions. All my cages and tanks can now fit on the shelf, for the first time!

Gonna collect a pleco from my good pal K H Chan (no idea what his first name is though). Funny when people want you to call them by their surnames all the time. He lives in Toa Payoh, so I will drop by tomorrow after work to collect.

My briefing for my Israel trip is this Wednesday. I am so looking forward to it. But the lack of details is telling. I have no idea yet what flight I will be taking to and fro, nor what time I depart on the 20th nor arrive on the 29th. Only time will tell...

Agnes and I plan a trip up North in December. Hopefully it comes to pass, as Agnes has been busy the last few months. There has been a blackout of leave-taking in December due to the upcoming Flower Festival, so we will probably have to make do with one of the weekends in early December. Unless...
