another everything also have post

One year and 9 months over. 3 more months to go. When Agnes went back to school, we both knew it was gonna be hard and we would both have to make sacrifices to make it through this trying time. It was something that could break us..or make us. Thankfully we made it through the tough times relatively unscathed, and eve found time to get married and get a home together. The finish line is in sight. Next year will be a new year. but I think you already knew that!

The flat is ours, but we have yet to formalise any of the plans to renovate. So we have to wait. There is so much to be done, but we can't do anything until we at least know what we are gonna be doing. In the meantime I have been looking for design ideas and stuff for the house. We plan to get some form of internet broadband, I am partial to M1, but ultimately Agnes and myself are gonna have to crack our heads together to choose a plan and an ISP from Starhub, Singtel,M1 and Pacific Internet. Agnes favours Singtel if anyone wants to know.
And then there is the issue of air-conditioning. As it stands now Barang Barang Interiors will not be doing the aircons for us, so we are gonna have to look for a system 3 aircon ourselves. A daunting preposition for sure with the myriad of aircon makers and models on the market. but seeing that we will probably not be using it too much, I would advise against an Inverter.
Then there is the need to install a fixed phone line. This one is easy. But still it is a mater of time and circumstance as I have to be around to 'supervise' the guys who are gonna do it. Seeing that I will be clearing my previous years leave in the next few weeks maybe I can do it on one of the days.
I am just chomping at the bit to start on the house ,and to finally realise our dream home sooner rather than later.
But with all things patience is key to lasting success.

I did a feature not long ago on our new church building. And still I get goosebumps when I think about it. It just looks awesome and the concept is one of a kind in Singapore. Would be so looking forward to seeing it when it is done even if it was not where my church would be, but it is! Coolness!!
A cultural centre above ground, and a subterranean shopping mall. All integrated with the MRT lines (including the upcoming Circle Line).

I just do hope that Agnes and my family do eventually get along. A lot of shite happened at our solemnisation that I hope can be left in the past. i know there was disappointment and anger. And rightfully so. But for me to be caught between a rock and a hard place..is hard. We started off our married life on the wrong foot from the get go, and the longer this issue persists the harder it gets to get any form of resolution. I just hate it that Agnes does not come over anymore just because she does not want to see the very people who slighted her (and by extension..us) on our special day. I just wish I do not have to attend family functions alone anymore. I knew married life was never gonna be easy, but this is RIDICULOUS.
Life goes on as usual for the people who got me in this mess, whilst Agnes and I have to live with the consequences of their actions.

As I may or may not have mentioned here, we bought bikes!
Hopefully we will be able to cycle to East Coast Park, Bedok Reservoir, Pasir Ris and Changi in the days to come.

After ignoring me since our chat after she returned from her European misadventure, Wee Ling and me are back on talking terms again..or so it seems. I still have no clue why she was ignoring me, or if it was all just some misunderstanding on my part. Anyway we all intend to meet on Thursday to somewhat celebrate Yen Ling's growing another year older. Hooray for aging.
Gotta remember to burn the CD for her of our wedding as promised.
No idea where we be going to or what we will be doing. But that is not my horse to ride on.

On Wednesday Agnes is going for her 2nd interview with HSA. HSA has always been like her dream job, that somehow eluded her until now. But recent developments have left a somewhat bittersweet taste in her mouth. For one the position is on a contractual basis. Which means little or no assurance of a job once the term is over. And then there is the issue of their seemingly anti-family stance from what I gathered. So if we are to start a family and have kids, Agnes might be seen to be a liability. sigh.

On Monday is Lyn's farewell dinner, It will be held no where else but at my very own Ban Leong Wah Ho. but Agnes also happens to have piano that day. so as usual I am in a little bit of a bind as to what to do. For reasons only known to Agnes, she despises Lyn. But Lyn is one of my best friends in AVA. so hence the dilemma. Agnes has said some rather mean things about me and Lyn which I did not take to heart. No idea why anyone would harbour so much animosity, but as in the solemnisation case mentioned above, it is par for the course.

Another person in my life Agnes dislikes is Hasli.
Recently me and him had an issue at work. Sometimes it is hard to draw the line between friendship and work. Agnes had her 'I-Told-You-So' moment and rubbed it in my face. I am still sore about Hasli's attitude. But I have known him long and well enough to not have expected too much from him, but still I can't help but feel slighted and disappointed.

I guess all in all, I am someone who sometimes places too much faith in flawed individuals. And ever so often my faith is proven to be misplaced and I get hurt. Lyn. Hasli. Joyce. Leo. Nadia....
But that does not mean I would change my modus operandi for anything.

But still my heart bleeds when someone I trust and whose friendship I cherish turns around and stabs me in the back. In fact looking at the list, 'family' is the operative word...

"Ohana means 'family'.Family means no one get left behind."- Lilo & Stitch

On a more sombre note the atrocities the junta has inflicted upon its people in Myanmar is appalling. How the regime has even lasted so long is a minor miracle in itself. With any dictatorship, only the might of freedom, and of democracy, can truly liberate the people of Myanmar from. but unlike in 1988, the entire world cannot turn a blind eye and pretend they do not know what is going on. Aung San Su Kyi has become the human face of the struggle between the common folk and the military regime of former Burma. And until she is free and a democratically elected government is installed in their rightful place, the scenes we have seen in the last few days will all have mattered little.
It is not power that corrupts but fear. Fear of losing power corrupts those who wield it and fear of the scourge of power corrupts those who are subject to it.- Aung San Suu Kyi

I do hope the international community steps in and eradicates this scourge of violent suppression. And actually does do something meaningful for a change @ US, UN and ASEAN

NOAH's ARK
-----------

Noah's Ark is selling these 2008 calendars for $10. Do show your support and all your contributions will be going for a good cause.

Not sure if u pple have heard of em' but basically they're an animal shelter who takes in all the abandoned/rescued/abused animals, previously located @ Jln Kayu in SG but due to govt non-support & reclaiming of their land, 'claiming' it was a 'waste', they were forced to relocate.

Noah's Ark is now situated in Johor, but juz a short 20mins drive away. The move proved to be for the betta, the animals now live peacefully with 10 acres of land of freedom, constant supply of food, water & shelter from rain/sun etc. No fear of abuse as well as Raymond is there to keep an eagle eye on em' @ all times. A man worth my respect for the sacrifices he has made for the animals. He now stays permanently in Noah's Ark, the animals' idol & vet in times of emergency when vets cant get there fast enough, eg: In the middle of e night etc. He also does free sterilizing/vet care for the animals ard as the pple there are quite poor so lil'/no knowledge of the important of sterilization for cats/dogs.

I do hope to pay them a visit in the near future. And do want Agnes to join me if possible.

Their mission is to provide a safe and secure home for the animal residents where they can live out their lives in happiness and eventually, die with dignity. To this end many of the animals are allowed to free run, and we create a natural settings for the others, more often than not resorting to using natural materials around us for example, bamboo stalks and attap.

Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary (NANAS) is one of the few private animal sanctuary which started in Singapore in 1995. It moved to Johore located in Pekan Nanas in June 2000 to an area with 10 hectares of land.

Noah's Ark CARES (Companion Animals Rescued & Education Society) was established in June 2005 to continue its work in Singapore. It runs educational program for schools, Project Catsnip and Project Industrial Dogs to help manage the population of stray dogs and cats.
