under the weather

Not feeling too good the last couple of days. I very nearly wanted to take MC today but when I awoke I did not feel bad enough.

Symptoms: sore throat, cough, runny nose, lethargy, light-headedness

I thought it was some sort of viral infection or the onset of influenza.

Probable causes/triggers: dusty blanket, sleeping with aircon on at night, close proximity with canine (jus joking)

Not really sure what caused it, but i figured it to be the aircon at nite. I normally sleep with just the fan on (get your mind out of the gutter!).But on Saturday nite i left the aircon on overnight and snuggled under my blanket hoping that maybe I could overcome my insomnia-like sleep patterns. It turned out well enough except for moments when my feet got uncovered. The problem is that my aircon is directly above my bed at the moment so there tends to be a draught which is not a good thing.

I felt awful yesterday after dinner at Suntec. I told Joyce and Lyn I might be taking mc today (monday) if things din approve. But the morning after, I felt well enough to go. And I got through the day in one piece.

I even went out for a walk-run with my Wawa mutt at Lower Pierce in the evening after work.

Bought some Breacol cough medication. So I will self-medicate til condition advises otherwise.

foursome

not much happened in the first half of the day.

Round about 3.30 met Joyce at the Mobil station opposite my house. Paid my phone bills and a parking fine at the AXS machine. Then I drove to Suntec. Parked at Suntec instead of Millenia as I usually do. Reason:cos Joyce said so.
Was initially planning to join Lyn and Poh for service but instead we went up to the 6th floor overflow room.Lyn and Poh were at the main auditorium. We agreed to meet for dinner after service however. The overflow room was cold, due in part to there being only half full and the aircon being full-on. Towards the end Joyce went to the ladies and did not return because it was too cold for her liking.

After service we walked down to the third floor where we 'accidentally' ran into Poh and Lyn. Joyce somewhat reluctantly agreed to join them for dinner. Lyn and Poh were to meet us at Wildfire. Joyce and I went to the POSB atm's to draw cash. When we got there we found the menu of Wildfire to be rather limited. So we agreed to go to the Viet Cafe just across. The food was not too bad, except that our vermicelli did not come with the nuts and the 'soup'.Which is not necessarily a bad thing as we got larger portion instead in bowls. After dinner we parted ways.

Think the dinner went rather well. Poh and I seemed to get along well which is not always the case. However there appeared to be some tension between the ladies. It stemmed from the incident when we first met. Joyce said hi and smiled at Lyn. Lyn kinda ignored Joyce and turned and walked away and continued to talk on her handphone. As it turned out Lyn was attending to some family matters hence her actions or lack thereof. The bad part was that the Cold War continued pretty much through the dinner. I dun remember Lyn and Joyce saying anything directly to one another the whole time.Another blog for another time.

Thereafter....home.

The following nine postings are about the nation of Israel...do skip them if they are not your cup of tea

Singapore Idol thoughts

Hahaa....the 'auntie' is out of the running. She did not come in the top three of round one. She was not chosen as one of the ten to make it for the Wildcard round next week. All this despite her being chosen tops of the contestant most viewers wanted to see in the wildcard stage. It goes to show what Ken Lim said to be true-'Singapore Idol is not a popularity contest..'...duh! On a sidenote..wassup with that overly possesive boyfriend/show of affection in public? Looks like the guy is as insecure as...nevermind...

Speaking of popularity contests...WAAZZUP WIF THAT?? Jerry Ong and Taufik got through to the top ten?? It is painfully obvious Nana and Beverly throughly deserved to go through. Luckily they got chosen for the wildcard round. The unfair part is that only..wait for it...wait for it...ONE..will go through to the final ten. Apparently Jerry's entire church voted for him. And the expression on Taufik's face when the results were announced said it all. Talk about shock results!

It seems that there was an uneven distribution of talent among the 3 shows. It seems most of the talent was in group 2.

And by the way the results went it looks like those with a ready made fan base will make it to the final stages. For example those with churches of large congregations and those from institutes of education (i.e. colleges and U's). Unfair but that is how the cookie crumbles sometimes. That is what happens in a small viewership like Singapore. A slight shift in voting accounts for a large say in who advances and who does not.

Bizarre love triangle

I love going out for walks with Camou (the chihuahua). He is a hyperactive pooch with lotsa energy and a propensity for chewing up stuff. I just figure he is restless cooped up at home. That coupled together with his teething woes just kinda makes for a naughty puppy at home.

Camou belongs to Paula. She had always wanted a dog of her own. And finally we agreed to her request. So the search began for a pooch to fill the void in Paula's heart....

In the end Paula chose Camou. To say he is little is an understatement. He is small even for a chihuahua. It does not help that he is also to the skinny side compared to his brethren. But the little fella sure can run. It is funtime in the Boyd household when he goes on one of his door-to-door runs, hounds (wat else?) the cats and humps unsuspecting guest (human or otherwise).

It seems like the novelty of having a dog has worn off for Paula. She is hardly ever around to look after Camou, let alone play or bring him out for daily walks. So I have started to bring him out for walks that evolve (or is it degenerate) into runs. It looks a good way to keep fit and have fun. Just yesterday Joyce and I brought him out for a walk cum run. Joyce had as much fun as Camou and I do. I do think this could become a regular feature of our weekends and evenings.

Which begs the question; why doesn't Paula (and to a lesser extent Noel) have time for Camou and all he entails (pun fully intended..geddit?). Having a pet is one of life's simple pleasures. The moments spent together are priceless and words cannot fully express how my life has been enriched by my mammalian and reptilian friends over my own lifetime.

So here's to more runs and walks and the attention of babes whilst doing it.
