doggie escapades

After work headed straight home and picked up Camou to go to the Bishan Dog Run. Found Camou confined in his box. No idea how long he had been in it. My parents probably put him in the box when they left the house hours before. Poor Camou.

We got to the dog run just after six and many dogs were there already. We even saw another chihuahua only slightly bigger than camou. Camou was rather timid today in the early goings, running away and hiding from all the other dogs. As the shadows got longer though he slowly came out of his shell and started to terrorise the other dogs. Quite a sight seeing a little dog like Camou chasing a dog so much bigger than himself. Chihuahua's are very protective of their owners and camou is no exception. He did not like any of the other dogs getting too close to me and chased them away whenever they got too close for comfort.

Camou also seems to be rather fond of the only stone bench in the dog run. I guess it makes him feel bigger looking down on the other dogs from his lofty position. As such he on several occasions ran after a dog to chase it off and then jumped back up on the bench for safety. So he guards his owner (me) and his stone bench from all other dogs.

I feel so safe now. Hahaa..

betting the ranch

Jack needed a lift to Jalan Besar and I obliged. We had a good chat in the car and even a singalong to one of the songs on the stereo. I dropped him along the main road and headed towards Paradiz Centre where I was gonna meet my Agnes for a while before sending her home for dinner.

I parked at the open air car park next to Paradiz and looked to find Agnes. I found her by the entrance. She did look hot today in a nice looking black dress and blouse ensemble. Almost did not recognise her at first. She greeted me with that mega-watt smile which I am beginning to see more and more of.

We immediately headed to the Singapore Pools office where I educated my 'Kusu Island Princess' on how to fill in a 4-D betting slip. We bet $5 on my car number. It was only my second time betting on anything except that time I was in Genting but I got a crash course on it at work today so I knew more or less what to do.

After having done the dirty deed (betting not the other one) we walked about the area but there was nothing to do actually. I did withdraw some cash at the DBS atm there at Agnes's urging due to the encounter I had yesterday in town where I helped some guy deposit some cash. She was afraid it was some kinda scam but her fears proved unfounded.

Headed back to the car.

Drove Agnes home.

ECP was packed with cars heading home.

But sent her home. Did not walk her up to her flat this time though as she felt it unnecessary this time round. On that note I started to make my way back home.

How Valentine's Day was spent

Been wondering if I would be spending another lonely Valentine's day this year again. But it was not to be. I asked someone to be my Valentine and she said 'yes'. Was so happy but time was too short for a celebratory jig. Got about to planning where we would dine.

As with all the best laid plans it somehow did not quite work out as planned. I shall not elaborate much on that, but that we decided to go to SUNTEC and have dinner at one of the restaurants there. It seemed the more fool proof option.

It was her first real Valentine's day and I knew I had to make it a memorable one for her.

I had taken half day off so I had more time to run some errands and then go and pick her from her office.

I went to several places that day. First I went to Thomson Plaza and grabbed some stuff. Then Junction 8. Then Plaza Singapura. Then headed into town where I walked around the city area spanning from International Plaza to near Lau Pa Sat.

I grabbed a couple of stalks of roses from the vendor at Tanjong Pagar MRT. She then called me to ask me if we were still going to SUNTEC and I replied affirmatively. Christine needed a lift to SUNTEC as she was meeting her boyfriend there and I agreed although that put paid to my plans on what I was gonna do when she (no..not Christine!) turned up. I had wanted to wish her Happy Valentine's Day and plant a big wet one on her when she got into the car but that became improbable with a pair of inquisitive eyes gawking from the back.

Never mind. The night was still young.

I had strategically placed one of the roses on the seat so that she would see it as she got into the car and kept the other one tucked away by my side. Sneaky huh? I gave the other one later on in the night. She wondered aloud if there were anymore roses hidden in the car to be given later. Unfortunately there were none. Always next year though.
She seemed pleased about the first rose although she did comment that it did look rather ...errrm... let's just say it was not the pick of the bush! I dropped Chris near the convention centre and then headed underground to the carpark where we circled around as I tried to find a good lot.

We then walked around the Fountain of Wealth looking at the various dinner specials on offer for something nice. It eventually came down to Kenny Roger's, Country Manna and NYDC. We agreed on the last one as they seemed to offer the best-bang-for-the-buck.

There was only one couple ahead of us but still they took awhile to seat us. I guess NYDC does not have a good service system in place which makes getting seats, ordering and getting your orders a bit of an ordeal at times especially on days like today.

I ordered the lasagne set dinner and she had the Mushroom Madness one! *Zoinks!*
Somehow the main course came before the soups. We took that in our stride. After we were done with our main courses we signalled the waiter to bring our soups. He duly apologised for the mix-up. So I guess that makes it ok. She did not finish her soup but as usual I soldiered on. Then it was dessert time!! AGNES ordered the *mumble-mumble..mumble* (cos I forgotten what its called) and I had a *mumble-mutter-ptooi*(ditto). Which now begs the question: do artsy fancy names makes for a better dessert when no one can remember what's it called. Although you liked it, how do you recommend it to someone?

It may go something like this,

"Its the brown one with the white stripe-thingys.Looks like a chocolate cake but actually it is not. It has..blah blah blah fillings ..taste good though. You should try it."

Friend says," Oh...ok I will look out for the brown cake with the white stripeys that looks like a chocolate cake but isn't."

"Must remember to try,ah?"

After dessert and duly paying the bill we set back to the car and headed for our first destination...

Fort Canning Hill.

Where I helpfully pointed out the Registrar's of Marriage. You never know when something like that may come in useful. Apparently the road was closed for some road works. 'Road works'...thats kind of like an oxymoron isn't it. When road works are being done normally some part of the road being worked upon is deemed unsafe to be driven upon and hence is not utilised but still they call it 'road works' when the road is not fully working. Maybe they should just call it simply 'road-closed-for-some-work-that-we-are-doing-so-that-you-will-be-safe-from-falling-into-a-hole-that-may-be-formed-some-day-and-swallow-your-car-whole-if-we-do-not-close-this-road-right-now'.

We parked near the old national library car park and then started the long, slow walk around the hill as I also 'helped' point out some of the sights along the way including the Archway, the arts centre, some pieces of abstract art that resembled female genitalia and the old fort right at the top of the hill. We then found a nice spot near the microwave station. We just chilled out and chatted there for about an hour and watched as couple nearby got into the mood for love,if you get what I mean.
Along came a couple of cute guys selling some set for 5 bucks comprising of candles, a box of matches, a packet of sparklers and 2 'love sweets'. I know it was a ridiculous amount to pay for something that would normally cost half that, but we had a good time the previous night at Changi Boardwalk watching others playing with their sparklers and tossing them into the sea. So I bought a set and the guy was nice enough to give us extra candles. We tried a few places to set up the candles but there was a rather strong gust of wind on the hill that night. We finally found a nice spot just behind the lighthouse on the staircase leading up to the top. We lined up the candles all in a row and set them alight (or was it the other way around?). Anyway they looked so pretty in a row like that. Awwww...
We then used up the packet of sparklers which consisted of only 6 sparkies. We then spent the rest of the time looking after the candles as they slowly went out. ..

We then walked down the hill round the other way just behind the MITA office and eventually found ourselves back at R.O.M. *smirk*

No hanky panky! We did not even lay a finger on each other...except for that time...err...nevermind. *smiles angelically*

We hopped back into the car and I drove...

To Marina South.

I just love the place it affords a good view of the city and Singapore River as well as providing privacy for couples who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The River Hong Bao was on as usual this year. We managed to find a spot not far from the entrance. It did not provide as good a view as the spots further down but there will be other times.

We hovered round Sunny at the early goings but eventually I managed to get Agnes to climb over the railing and sit by me at the waters edge. It was difficult getting over the railings with the long skirts she likes to wear but with a little help from me and a little hitching up of the afore mentioned skirt, we made short work (pun intended) of it. It was really nice just sitting there together and talking about our lives and more importantly about 'us'. We managed to clear the air about some issues that have been on our minds. It is amazing how close we have become in the short period that we have been dating. It has been barely a month but we have come so far so fast. It is almost too good to be true. I hope this fairy tale has a happy ending and we all live happily ever after.

It was already getting late and we both were working the next day so we decided to head home. I helped her once more to get over the railings and back in the car we headed back onto the ECP back to home sweet home.

(I know...i know...what you guys thinking. No we did not get all hot and sweaty here either. It does not make for very good writing where nothing scandalous happens but it is truth. *glows in angelic .. err.. glow*)

Did I also mention that there was a fire engine stationed nearby in the open field where we were. I think it was a precautionary measure in case any fires broke out or just an exercise as the spot is especially prone to bush fires in the day. Being V Day they probably thought there was a likelihood of an upward surge in static electricity in the area which may result in sparks flying and a bush on fire (or is it a bush fire?) in the area. Keep up the good work guys.

I sent Agnes to the bus stop near her block and told her to walk home herself.

No..actually I actually sent her to the bottom of her block and accompanied her up to her door and then said goodbye. I made my way back to the lift as my baby tried to open the door to her flat, all the while looking to see how she was making progress getting in. Took a while but she managed it.

Really! That was all we did. Honest it was.

P.S. No juicy details have been edited to protect the guilty parties in this blog.

a Sunset Walk

The day started early as I was gonna meet Agnes at her place and then go to her church. I got there a little early and Agnes came rushing downto meet me. The rest of the family was already there at church. We walked from Agnes's place to church. Agnes complained that she felt hot because her blouse was 'double-layered'. I could not refute nor verify that claim.

We climbed the stairs to the sanctuary or whatever they call it now. The service was supposed to begin at 10 but people were still streaming in at around 11! We changed places a number of time as the worship leader implored us to move forward ..yadda..yadda..yadda...

The worship, dance performances and message were better than I thought it would be. Yippie! Agnes's mum performed in one of the dance items. I couldn't help but notice Agnes giggling away during it. Bad girl!!

After service Agnes and I hung out near the church carpark area as the rest of the family joined us after a bit. We hitched a ride on the church minibus back to their home.

There we had lunch at the coffeeshop, all of us.

After lunch we went back to Agnes's place where I sat down in the living room as people did their stuff. We were supposed to go to OG at Rochor but we had to wait as one of the church leaders was coming over to pay a 'courtesy visit'.

I was initially planning to fetch Faith and then head to NCC but ditched that in favour of following Agnes to OG.

After the thingy with the church leader was over, we (Agnes, mum, sis and of course me) headed to OG. The carpark was packed so I just dropped the girls and headed to SUNTEC.

I managed to get there early but noticed that there was no queue formed outside the Rock. It had to do with the Chinese New Year service being held at the Indoor Stadium at 5. So I tried to contact Faith to tell her about the change in plans but to no avail. As it turned out Faith has misconstrued my earlier message and assumed that I was not attending serice today when all I had planned to communicate was that I would be unable to pick her from her place to service.
I was now stuck at SUNTEC facing a slight dilemma.Either to head to Indoor Stadium for service or to go and meet up with Agnes again. In the end the choice was clear.

I headed back to meet Agnes! I did the usual waiting thing as the girls tried on their dresses. I even got to complete the look with Agnes's handbag. Hee hee..

After finding nothing we headed to Bugis Junction via Bugis Village. There the ladies did their own shopping as I wandered around by myself. In the end I found myself at the outdoor area outside Seiyu. I waited till Agnes summoned me on my phone then rejoined them for dinner at the foodcourt downstairs.

We then returned to the car and I sent the ladies home.

Not quite.

Feeling that Agnes and I had not spent any quality time together at all today, I proposed we go someplace else. So we headed to Changi Boardwalk.

We walked down the boardwalk to the end called the Sunset Walk. Once there we chatted a bit whilst leaning on the guard railings. There was also another couple there nearby with 2 whole boxes of those sparklers that make noise. We had great fun observing them doing their stuff. Looked like such fun.

As it was getting late we set back to the car and I drove back to Agnes's place. I walked her up to her door and said our goodbyes.

Drove home.

Looking forward to seeing her again tomorrow for Valentine's Day.
