Movies Hitlist

2 movies I wanna catch:

The 40 year Old Virgin

What is there not to like about the eternal quest to pop a cherry? Bawdy jokes and all manner of sexual inuendo ensues. A must watch for anyone who enjoyed American Pie.

Flight Plan
Jodie Foster is in it. Nuff said. She is quite possibly one of the best actresses of her generation. Folowing in the steps of her previous effort,Panic Room, this one is about a mum and her daughter who take a flight. While they were asleep on the long haul flight, the daughter goes missing. What ensues is the mother looks for her daughter on board to no avail. All the evidence seems to indicate she has lost her mind following the demise of her husband (the reason for their flight back in the first place). I love psychological dramas and knife-edged tension. And this has those in spades.

MTV watch

I am watching MTV as I am writing this. MTV used to be all about music videos. But by the looks of things MTV represents the hearts and minds of an entire generation. Not that that is something to be proud of…

Some of my favourite shows on MTV :

Pimp My Ride

Hosted by Xhibit, it is a show about a West Coast pimp shop (read: they mod automobiles). It is just like any drivers fantasy to see their set of wheels made into a shagamobile. Each week one lucky guy or gal has his car (or whatever is left of one) stripped down and built up again. Cars end up with high-end stereo systems and stuff. Look a million bucks after the job.

Cribs

Each week we visit some celebrity’s home and get shown around. How cool is that?

Newlyweds

We get to fulfill our voyeuristic aspirations as we follow Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson in their passage of matrimonial bliss. All the more poignant now that the two of them have separated…

Viva La Bam

What happens when you put a group of wild skateboarder dudes and a tight assed family under one roof? Utter mayhem and chaos!

The Andy Milonakis Show

About this young kid (actually he is in his mid 20’s but you can’t tell by the looks of him) who does all sorts of crazy stuff including rapping, interviews and stuff. In the best style of juvenile jokes and sorority humour. A show to watch if you are into lame sight gags and dumb-ass dialogue. Hilarious, I tell ya…

Wildboyz

3 crazy dudes travel the world and do crazy stuff with animals and to each other. The episode I just watched had them trying to ‘slay’ Komodo Dragon’s, another skit had a coconut crab attached to a guys ass *ouch*, a guy fondling an elephant’s ‘2nd trunk’ and buffalo racing. I guess that gives you an idea what the show is about…

Boiling Points

A show about trying to piss off unsuspecting people and seeing how much they can take. If they can last pass a pre-determined number of minutes they get a cash prize. The dark underbelly of human emotions is revealed…

Wanna Come In?

A new spin on the dating game. 2 guys understudy 2 supposedly cool guys who impart to them the finer points of dating. To that end they go on a date with 2 babes and hope to do well enough to get asked in at the end of the date. Like they say every dog has its day.

MTV Unplugged

Probably the coolest concept in all of music-dom. Get some big music star or band. Get the afore mentioned band/artiste to perform their hits in a stripped down set in an intimate setting. The latest star to do it is Alicia Keys. Notable alumni includes Nirvana, Mariah Carey, Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart.

Room Raiders

A guy or gal visits rooms belonging to 3 prospective dates. Based on the stuff he finds in the room he or she has to make a choice on which prospective date to choose. The tables are then turned when the 3 suitors raid the room of the guy or gal.

Taildaters

A guy and a girl go on a date. Sounds simple enough? The catch is that each of them has a couple of friends watching the proceedings and prompting them what to say or do throughout the entire thing. There are even dares when one of them has to perform certain daring (duh) acts to gain extra points often with hilarious results.

The Osbournes

We follow the lives and times of TV’s most dysfunctional family, the Osbournes.

balls and roses

Took half day off yesterday. Went down to GV Grand at Great World Plaza to watch Goal! I must say I rather enjoyed the show. Great all round acting and story. At least it was believable and had that human side to it unlike many other sports movies where it became either a comedic farce or the story had a Disney like ending (where every became friends and the good guys won in the end).Of course the much talked about David Beckham scene lived up to its reviews. Beckham was utter crap and should not give up his day job. Overall the story was great with exception to the finale, which I found a little unrealistic in that the hero scored the winning goal in the dying minutes of a match against their arch-rivals in the final match of the season off a direct freekick. A bit too convenient don't you think?
It helped that I enjoyed it so much that Newcastle are my favourite footie team.

After the movie, I did some shopping in the area and had a light 'lunch' at McDonalds, comprising of a medium fries and a iced milo. I also bought a nice bouquet from the florists for Agnes. When I saw it,I knew it was the one I should get. It is just so pretty with all the pink roses and flowers. Must get Agnes to give me a picture of it to post here.

There was still some time before 6 pm when I would pick Agnes from her office, so I took a drive over to Mount Faber and then drove down to Labrador Park. Before I knew it it was time to go pick Agnes...

I met the girls (Yenling joined us) and I dropped her (Yenling again) off at near Raffles Place/Clifford Pier. We then drove over to Beach Road to eat the chongqing steamboat that had been reviewed in the Straits Times. The two higher rated ones were packed to the rafters so we had to settle for the 3rd rate one. We paid $15 each and it was not half bad. We will probably try the other 2 next time round

After dinner we had desserts at a dessert stall (what else?) along Lian Seah Street. We shared a nice fruit & ice cream combo. The mango especially was nice.

After that we felt really full from all the eating and wisely decided to take a walk to Bugis Junction. Just wandered around aimlessly until we stumbled upon the Neoprint shop on the 3rd level. There the 3 of us (not yenling this time, but Eggy the green turtle who was with us all the while) took a trio of pictures and chose the 'best' one. A set costs $6.00. It turned out a little off as I was a little too high in the frame, that the captions kind of covered part of the upper part of my head. Never mind. learn from it and not place my bulbous head so high next time, or saw my legs off at the knees to prevent a repeat.

With that done we headed back to Sunny and I sent Agnes home. Was all in all a good & fruitful day.

HAPPY EIGHT MONTH ANNIVERSARY AGNES!

scattered rain with thunderstorms

Last night I stayed up to write one of those poems cum lyrics that I spoke about yesterday. I wrote like a full page. And I personally think it came out quite well in the end. Problem was when I ran a spell check the entire screen FROZE. So I had no choice but to close the page. As I had not backed-up what I had written I lost it all. I wrote it all on the spot and put down in writing (so to speak) whatever came to mind. It is a writing process that can never be duplicated by me. Meaning that the next time I write it will come out looking and sounding completely different, dealing with a different subject matter from a different angle.

*sigh*

Today went to the zoo with Marcus and Lisa. Was fun all in all. Good thing the weather held,it did not rain as we had feared. In fact it was a cool day throughout. Managed to takes lots of good pictures which I will post on Flickr in due time.
But I was really pooped from the weekends activities and really had to drag myself out of bed to make it on time to fetch the 2 of them. That played a part in me not being as lively or enthusiastic as I would be under normal circumstance when I go to the zoo. In one of those days where you spend so much time walking and taking pictures that we did not really see all the exhibits despite being there for what was nearly 6 hours. I never tire of taking pictures of animals though. Each time I go there I always return with a card load of pictures.
We had lunch at KFC. Was so hungry.
After the zoo we had ice-cream at Ben & Jerry's at the zoo entrance. And then we stayed to chat for a bit before heading back to Sunny. I drove with the intention to send Lisa and then Marcus home since they did not have the faintest idea what to do next. Half way there someone proposed we go to Chinatown to sample the 'famous; congee which resulted in me having to make a huge detour to get from Bukit Batok to New Bridge Road. So much so that Marcus fell asleep most of the journey there.
We parked at Chinatown Complex and had a nice congee dinner followed by a walk through Chinatown streets with Lisa as our guide.
I then sent Marky Boy home, before sending Lisa to Jurong East to get some stuff from a friend. I then sent her home before finaly, finally getting home myself. I think we all had a good time. Although I do feel a tad sorry for Lisa who had to put up with 2 animal-obsessed photographers who spent 10 to 15 mins at each exhibit. Such is the price of her lack of interest in animals.

Rhyme without reason

I love to write. Or at least I used to. Always figured that whatever I did in life, it would probably have something to do with writing. Maybe a journalist or a columnist in some magazine.

One thing I used to do too was to write 'lyrics'. Although I have no musical foundation I just find it somewhat therapeutic to express myself in lyrical prose. The words may not be accompanied by actual music but still it does something to soothe the savage beast within me. In fact I used to have 3 full books of lyrics and poetry I had written years ago. Joyce took them to read and never returned them to me for some strange reason. 3 of the many things she took from me never to be returned back. The nerve of some people! Just take peoples stuff and things of sentimental value and not even bothering to return them to me.

Anyway all that is beside the point. I plan to start a new journal of artistic expression. But this time it is gonna be here on my blog. So if you guys see some intense and dark,or sappy, wholesome lyrics here...maybe it is an original composition by me.

If I recall correctly the stuff I used to write was dark, intense, melancholic and angsty. But I have come a long, long way from those days. Though I still bear the emotional scars, life is filled now with much more hope and confidence. And it shows...

Do bear in mind though that I have no formal training in such so some of the stuff may actually be quite lame or difficult to decipher for someone besides myself despite my best intentions.

Life & such

Met up with Faith after a while for church today. I am not sure how long it has been since we last met. Think it has been well over a month. Service was good as usual, but I was a little out of it. May have had more than a little to do with not eating until dinner yesterday. And my dinner yesterday (at Alden's birthday party!) was a 'measly' slice of pizza, two pieces of chicken and 1 devil's drumlet. The same applied to today, where I skipped breakfast and lunch. So energy levels were kinda low during service. Just felt so sleepy and out of it.

After service Faith had to go to look for a new handphone and meet up with her pal. I then took a drive over to Agnes's place where I bought my own dinner and even managed to get Agnes the eraser she needed. Had dinner with Agnes and watched TV until 11.

Tomorrow, me on leave. YEEEAAAAHH! Going to the zoo with Lisa and Marcus. Will be cool to finally meet Marcus. In many ways he is like a kindred spirit. He shares the same love for animals and we even support the same hapless football team. Gonna be cool. Speaking of cool, we are definitely gonna feast on Ben & Jerry's tomorrow. I do hope the weather holds tomorrow. Gonna be quite a let down if rain and thunder impedes our zoo trip.
