the dance of life

Was working in the morning. Thankfully everything went well as usual.

After work rushed home, but not before sending Sin to the MRT.

When I got home I was once greeted by Camou. Being fully susceptible to his charms I took him for his walk. He really enjoys his walks with me. Think it is the highlight of his day. As for me, I get the best greetings in my family now.I am officially Camou's favourite human!! Yippie!!

We went to Upper Pierce again today. There was some grass cutting going on at certain sections so that kinda curtailed our urge to run haphazardly to a certain extent. We took a slow stroll around the waters edge and even came across a couple who went *ahem* deep into the woods. There was also this other couple making out in one of the shelters in full view of all the other park goers.

In the end we did our running at the section at the foot of the hill. It may only be me imagining things, but it seems Camou has slowed down. Must be age catching up with him(though he is still a pup at less than 2 years). He used to be able to keep with me but nowadays he seems to lag behind.

After having had our fill of fun, we headed home.

Rested a bit before going for my shower.

Went to pick Hasli from the bus stop near his place. It was the Annual AVA Dinner and Dance. I have had my fair share of yawn-inducing DnD's so I came hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

We met up with Suffian,Zul and Adam at the lobby. Hasli and I were as usual scanning the room for honeys. Of course Zuria got lotsa attention from us since she was one of the few young babes in attendance.
In the middle of it all I latched unto Chandran and we swigged a beer together. Think I drank it a bit too fast and felt kinda light-headed for a while after that.Word of advice: drink your beer slowly...

The dinner started off fairly ordinarily, you know...speeches and stuff. But as the night went by, the jokes got bawdier and the fun more...well...fun. I do not know where they found these guys, but they sure made my night. We may not see them again next year but it was worth it. Knowing how anal retentive civil servants can be it would be little wonder.

Mustaffa, the chinese guy dressed as an indian, was fun. He must have worked in Boom Boom before judging by his presentation style. The participants were game for anything this year too which makes for a refreshing change from the cold fish crowds of D&D's past. The front of the staged collapsed early on during the table games whilst we were on it.

After all was said and (un)done we hung out at the hotel lobby a bit before heading back to our vehicles. It seems our table had the luck of the draw this year as we managed to snag prizes during the lucky draw and the various games. Sadly though I did not get to join in any of the games. *pout*

Me and Hasli then headed out for supper. we tried to get the guys to join us but they felt full.Wimps!! Zuria passed on our offer to. We even sms-ed Gloria but she had already had supper. sigh. I even thought of Rachelle and Faith but it was logistically challenging as one lives in Toa Payoh and the other at Pasir Ris.

We had supper at Prata point. Was nice to finally have a long uninterupted chat with my bro. In case you do not know this by now; I love long, uninterupted one-on-one chats. *hint hint*

We delved into lotsa stuff which we do not get to talk about under normal circumstances.

After the do, I sent Mr Bear back home.

Elektra

After work gave good ole Uncle Ong a lift to Ang Mo Kio where we had dinner. He had mixed rice and I had a mixed pork rice. It has been a while since we last hung out together. It is kinda ironic that since I started driving full time that we seem to spend less time together than when we used to take buses and MRT's to our various eating spots. I guess he leaves the office at least a good half hour before me everyday and that neither one of us prepostions the other for dinner. I think his new favourite must be Yew Kwang. They had been having clandestine lunches together. *guffaw*

After dinner I took my leave of Uncle Ong and wandered Ang Mo Kio Central before heading to Jubilee where I bought a ticket to see Elektra for the 7.30 show.

Elektra was ok, if a little let down by the script. It coulda been so much more.Elektra was the coolest thing about Daredevil. But in Elektra the character is reduced to a caricature of all those kung fu/shaolin temple movies we all know. There is the blind, wise shifu who coaches the title character in the ways of good and the evil corporation of the dark arts called strangely The Hand. The fight scenes were ok if a little overdone. All in all a movie that coulda been cool but ended up tasting like cold leftovers.

Jennifer Garner did the best(or is it worst?) she could in the role.Of course I am biased and totally subjective in my opinion here. She can do little wrong in my eyes . :P

beach balls

First order of business was to send Sunny to the Nissan service centre for...err..servicing. The lady there told me I had to make an appointment and that I had to wait until late afternoon to get back my car! I never made an appointment before at the service centre. Even when I did call to ask the person would tell me to just come without an appointment. Instead I opted to make an appointment for 3.30 pm. The time now was 11 am. So i had the option of going home or staying out until 3. Actually my initial plan was to get my car done and then head to East Coast for some blading. So I headed to East Coast Park.

I parked near the hawker centre and then took a walk into the new area where the lagoon used to be. It is nice.Probably even better at night. One more place to add to my list of places to bring Lisa.

Got back to my car and spied 2 parking wardens lurking nearby. Thankfully I was not summoned. Drove over to Marine Cove. Walked around a bit there too. Did not feel like blading in the end.

Then I messaged 'her'. She was on MC today. Had the flu.Poor girl. I drove over to her place and picked I had dinner at the coffeeshop near her place. We sat and chatted a bit there. She wanted to go to Funan to get a book but I was heading to Toa Payoh later for my car servicing. So we went back to her place where she got her file with the address of all the other branches. Downstairs I saw this old guy staring daggers at me. I later found out the hostile old dude was her dad! I smiled sheepishly at him as I drove off with his beloved daughter. Hee hee..

There was a branch at Toa Payoh HDB Hub.

So I drove there and we both went looking for the shop. HDB Hub is a huge complex with a half dozen buildings I think. After about 20 minutes we finally found the place but it was nearly time for my appointment at the workshop. So I left her and headed to the Nissan service centre and she continued the search for her books on her own. In the end she got her book from Funan!

I sent my car in and after nearly 2 hours Sunny was ready. Problem was no one told me.So I ended up waiting longer than I should have. Worse of all the mechanic said that there was something wrong with my battery and clutch. Couldn't someone have fixed it or at the very least asked me if i wanted it done instead of making wait all for nothing.

I was late for my date with Lisa as I dashed from Toa Payoh to her office. I got there 10 minutes past six. It was not helped any that a bus had broken down on the road leading to her office and the tow guy conducted a check and repair on the damn bloody road. Stupid jerk! Couldnt he have moved his bus to one side of the road so vehicles could pass? In the end I had to mount halfway on the kerb to get pass the bus.

Picked Lisa and drove over to Seletar. I had difficulties finding Sunset Grill & Pub as it is located in some 'ulu' part of the air base. I had to SOS Noel to get the directions.

Once there it was worth the hassle. It did not hurt that sitting across the table from me was Lisa either. We both had the lambloin's which were not too bad. Sweet even. The thing about Sunset is not the food, although it is pretty good, but the laid back atmosphere and unique setting beneath a big angsana tree and at the edge of Seletar Airport.

After dinner we strolled back to Sunny and I drove her home. I walked her to her door. She went in and got me a black McDonald's doggie pillow. Now I have two! Yippie! The irony is that the other doggie pillow I have in my car came from Jackie. Like day and night when I think of it. Her mum and dad were also eager to chat with me but I had to go. Hahaaa...next time perhaps. Too bad they were around to 'spotlight' on me and Lisa or else...*smiles*

Drove home.

Bowling for grapefruits

After work had dinner (or is it considered just a bite?) with Sin and Hasli at Thasevi at Jalan Kayu. I had 1 egg prata and 2 kosongs.Hasli had 1 of each and Sin had 1 egg. We all drank teh halia. After our meal we had a second round of drink. This time we had teh tarik halia which was not as good as the normal ones.
As usual we chatted about the office. All we needed were handbags and walking sticks and we could be a group of gossiping aunties. Actually more them than me because I was not really in a mood to chat too much.

After dinner I sent the lads back to Yishun MRT. Hasli was gonna meet up with Faezah after that. Sin was presumably heading home.

Drove home.

Once home I got another message from May asking me if we were still going bowling. Since I was off on Thursday and she was feeling a bit down I thought why not? So I drove over to pick her up at her place and we went over to the new SAFRA at Mount Faber. I must say it is one of the better alleys in Singapore. It also helps that it is nearby to Lyn's and May's place so we could all go there sometimes.

We played 5 games. I won all of them of course. Poh was not around so I had to even the odds a little. So I tried bowling with my left hand, tried heavy balls, tried light balls, tried 'helicopter' style even but still managed reasonable scores. Darn!!

After our game we went back to the car and I sent May home to her floor.

Then off home I went....

a walk in the clouds

I drove to Cairnhill and parked. We had planned to meet at 630 at the Heeren. Cheng ,Sin and I walked via the alley to the side of Heeren by Billy Bombers. I messaged her to ask her location and she was just crossing the road to Heeren. I went to the washroom to freshen up and just as I had gotten out when she called. We met by the fountain and then made our way to Orchard Cineleisure as we tried to decide where to have dinner.

She was not very hungry yet but she was willing to eat just a little to 'entertain' me. I decided we go to Pastamania after she ruled out Japanese food. We found ourselves a table and I made the orders. I ordered the chicken and bacon linguine with cream sauce and she had the chicken bolognese. We took our time to eat and had a good chat during.

After dinner we walked around the complex abit. We went to the Sembawang Music store and then tried our luck at the cinema if there was something good to catch. Unfortunately we were rather late and most of the shows had already started. We then took the lift down to ground level and made our way to Heeren. She then helped me to look for the keychain/coin pouch I had been looking for. We tried the Wallet Shop and found them rather pricey there. We then went another floor up and we came across a store selling handmade leather products. I really felt that we could find what I wanted there so we wnet in. Finally we decided on a simple coin pouch and the guy at the shop was kind enough to change the fastener as the original one was a little loose and tended to disengage fairly easily. Made payment for it and we then went downstairs and walked to Paragon.

While there we decided to get out of Orchard as there was nothing to do, we could perhaps have a drink somewhere else, so we walked back to my car and I drove to the Esplanade....

We walked from the Esplanade to Queen Elizabeth's Walk past the place where the old Merlion was and then to the new Merlion. This was my first time walking by this particular route from the Esplanade. I finally realised why lovey-dovey couples frequent Queen Elizabeth's Walk. We managed to find a stone bench to sit and just chatted about work and life. It was truly wonderful getting to know more about her.

After a good chat we walked back by the same way (at my request) and I sent her home. I did make a few premature turns and all but in the end I got her home in one piece.

I then tried to be clever and instead of taking the longer but more well known route home I decided to try my luck by taking a 'short-cut' through the HDB housing estate instead of going by the expressway. I think it added nearly 20 minutes to my travelling time. When I got near home I stopped by the SPC to top up petrol. It was there that I SMSed her to let her know how much I enjoyed the evening.

We continued sms-ing until she finally dozed off into her dream world.

It was an evening well spent. I know now who to call upon for dinner if need be. Next time it is her treat..

Song of the Moment: Gravity by Embrace

honey,
it's been a long time coming,
and i can't stop now
such a long time running,
and i can't stop now
do you hear my heart beating?
can you hear that sound?
'cause i can't help thinking
that i don't look down

and then i looked up at the sun
and i could see
oh, the way that gravity turns for you and me
and then i looked up at the sky
and saw the sun
and the way that gravity turns on everyone
on everyone

baby,
it's been a long time waiting,
such a long, long time
and i can't stop smiling,
oh i can't stop now
do you hear my heart beating?
do you hear that sound?
'cause i can't stop crying
and i won't look down

and then i looked up at the sun
and i could see
oh, the way that gravity turns on you and me
and then i looked up at the sun
and saw the sky
and the way that gravity pulls on you and i
on you and i

Bear bear's birthday

Today just so happens to also be Joyce's birthday. I was pondering if I should or if I should not send my greetings. In the end I decided against the former as I felt there is little point in always being the 'nice guy'. She even forgot my birthday gift the last time round. The nerve of her! Although I was casual about it at the time,in retrospect it was a sign of things to come. In the following weeks my whole world fell apart and I fell into denial and depression. But the dark clouds have passed and a new life beckons me..

Although in my heart I wish her every happiness and blessings in her life, I just cannot think past my own disappointments and my own hurt to bring myself to tell her so..at least not yet...

I would rather just try to forget it ever happened than to dwell on a person that I know I can never change for loves sake.

Fate or Faith??

The plan today was to meet Faith and Rachelle for church for the fourth service. Somehow the best laid plans somehow went awry when Rachelle did not go to her own church and subsequently did not go blading either. So a new plan was brewed...

Rachelle had lunch at home and I came to pick her up after at around 3 pm. We then set off for church...

Meanwhile... Faith was on her way to SUNTEC....

In the end I managed to find a parking lot near enough to The Rock side. Actually it was nearer to the McDonalds! But we managed to get there in time and Faith joined us soon after. As it was still early, we went for a drink at the Kopitiam opposite the Rock. I had an iced milo and the ladies shared a bottle of mineral water.

After having quenched our thirst and willed away the time, it was time to rejoin the queue. We joined the queue for first time visitors although technically only Rachelle was the only one amongst the 3 of us attending for the first time.

Pastor Joshua was preaching today and I would say he gave a rather good account of himself today. His preaching today kinda explained the ease in which we got in. Normally the queue is longer when Pastor Prince is around. But I at the same time felt kinda cheated as I had wanted Rachelle to hear Pastor Prince's message first hand, but there will always be another time...

After service we went to Kenny Rogers for dinner. I had a 1/4 Chicken meal complete with soup and drinks. The ladies had an assortment of side dishes.
After dinner,Rachelle and I shopped around while Faith went off to do some stuff (what I do not know) . She later rejoined us (or rather we went to look for her) just outside the Tiny Toons Shop. We then walked with the intention of shopping further, but Faith decided then perhaps it would be 'nicer' if we caught a movie instead. So we trudged back to the cinema but the next movie up was the Aviator which none of us was especially keen to watch. So Plan B was to go for drinks at Harry's@The Esplanade. We drove over instead of walking from Suntec to the Esplanade. Parked at B2, where we then walked up to the main hall from the car park.

Along the way we stumbled upon this quaint little shop, Cool Bear Workshop, selling made to order teddy bears.
This charming shop offers a new concept whereby everyone, particularly children and teenagers, can have fun creating their own teddy bears, while also learning to be responsible for the bear's cleanliness, safety and attire. Simply follow a step-by-step process and in a few minutes you will have produced your very own teddy bear!

Everyone goes through an interactive process of creating a 'life' (teddy bear and friends), with every step of the bear-creating process designed to instill appreciation for life and life values. Bear makers also get to choose a wide variety of clothing and accessories for the new born bear. Cool Bear Workshop also offers many personalised gifts, including having your voice recorded in a voice and sound recorder as well as designing messages and/or graphics for your teddy bear's T-shirt.

The ladies were particularly enamoured by the concept particularly Faith. I myself think it may make for a good gift idea someday. Just as we were leaving we ran into Noel and Paula. I made the formal introductions. The gals think Paula is real sexy and I concur. It also got to the question of Noel is really my ypunger bro and how come we look so different. Noel looks older than I for the record. Hahaaa.. A real study in contrasts...

We then went down to Harry's as Noel and Paula went to Marina looking for birds nest. For the first round of drinks I had a Tequila Sunrise, Faith had a ...err...some blue drink...think it was a martini...or is that the second round?
Rachelle had a ...a....err...I am hopeless at this! For the second round Faith had a martini with some lychee/longan thingies inside and Rachelle had err..something very similar to what she had the first time round. Think it is called a court drink or something. After a bit Faith had to go off,so Rachelle and I took the cue to leave as well.

Sent Rachelle home.

Went home.

Messaged my two acquaintances telling them what a good time I had.

I am glad to have met Faith. Now I have 'kaki' to go church every Sunday. Yippie! She had been wanting to go to church regularly and had no one to go with..until now. Furthermore we also agreed to go blading together if time permits. Double yippie!!She is a real nice and down-to-earth girl. Glad to have made a new friend today. Rachelle seems mighty pleased with herself too. *chortle*
