May I?

Was pondering what I should do today. Then out of the blue May messaged me to asked if I wanted to go shopping. I readily agreed as I have been wanting to meet up with her for a while now but for some reason or other our schedules seemed to clash and it did not materialise.

I picked her up from her place and then we made our way to Plaza Singapura. We spent about 2 1/2 hours there looking for clothes for Chinese New Year. In the end she only bought one blouse.

Our next stop was Bugis Junction. I parked by the open air car park next to the MRT station. We then walked across to Bugis. We shopped a bit at Seiyu before heading out to the smaller shops. May got a pair of shoes. That's about it.

We had dinner at Sketches. The food was ok.After we placed our order the placed blacked out. But our food managed to arrive timely and was cooked satisfactorily. Apparently the kitchen was not affected by the blackout.

After dinner we resumed shopping. That was when the shoes were bought. I dunno about you, but 1 blouse and one pair of shoes is rather measly returns for half a day of shopping. But who am I to judge?

After that we drove around a bit before heading to Changi Point. May likes the airport and the beach so it was a good choice. We parked at the carpark near the old AVA fisheries office. We then took a short walk to the beach. May wanted to sit down so I scuttled back to the car and got two mats. We then spread the mats on the sand and sat down to see what was to be had. Eventually the sitting became lying down and we sorta star gazed until the clouds came in to obscure the view. We talked about family and life in general. Our deepest conversation yet.

After we had our fill of fun, we trotted back to the car and I set off for her place.

Sent her home and walked her up to her floor.........

Drove home.

beach bums and sun rays

Today I went down to Tanjong Beach with Camou. Was fun. Something I gotta do more often.

The beach was rather crowded, I moved down to the far end which was less crowded, where I set down a mat and put our stuff. It was a hot day and the coconut trees provided some welcome shade. I let Camou splash a bit in the water. A Labrador Retriever joined us. Camou got so excited. It was one of the few dogs Camou got to play with today. His owner came along and we got into conversation about our hounds. It did not matter that she was good looking and around my age to boot(the owner that is). I wish Camou could play 'fetch' though.Nonetheless Camou could outrun most dogs on his day. Way to go Camou!!

After a little fun in the sun, we retreated back to our mat in the shade. We then alternated between lying in the shade and venturing out to the beach and water. Camou made a real mess of the mat and got sand all over me and my stuff. *groan*

As it turned out, more doggies came along later. Camou and I had a great time meeting new friends from our respective species. The labrador girl and I left together to our respective cars. I took the beach route and stopped to ogle...I mean...look.. at the many beach-goers. So much fun to be had. I even saw a doggie race which ended in a no contest, as two runners got non-starts and the other got disqualified! I was all sandy and sunburnt but happy. This is the sort of thing I should do more often. Camou needs the exercise and I am more than happy to oblige.

Once back at the car I cleaned off the sand and packed my stuff before heading to the gateway carpark where Camou and I had a drink before heading home.

Once home, it was time for a late lunch (it was already 4+).We had planned to order McDonald's and have it delivered to our doorstep. The guy said it would take 1 1/2 hours. That was way too long. So we cancelled our order and we 3 (Noel,Paula and I) drove down to the McDonald's at Yishun and ordered via the drive-thru.We then drove home and ravenously consumed the meal(s).

Then it was public holiday movie time. The plan was to watch Lord of the Rings, but somehow that plan never transpired. Instead we watched whatever was on TV. First it was Beverly Hills Cop II. Eddie Murphy is hilarious. That was followed by Spy Kids 2, which was visually stunning and had something for everyone, followed by American Idol and then Pretty Woman. Pretty Woman is one of my favourite romantic comedies. Julia Roberts was just so lovable in it. The supporting cast really made the show.

blades and beds

Attended a knowledge conference at URA Centre. Before that I picked Mrs Pay up from the Yio Chu Kang MRT. It was all jammed up on the CTE leading into town. Hence we were late as we strolled in as deputy ceo was finishing his opening address. Hahaa..

During tea saw some familiar faces and made small talk before returning to our seats.

The second half was a lot better. It was a talk by out Legal Officer on law. He was really funny and provided interesting anecdotes on law in Singapore. I could not be more glad when it was finally over though.

Had lunch at the bak kut teh place at Sin Ming. Meanwhile I had to put up with all the whining and complaining of Mrs pay for the entire time. The woman just does not know how to shut up. I got so pissed with her after a while. The final straw was when she tried to convince me to tell the others that there was no food available when Hasli called me up to get 4 packets of food. Having had enough of her bitchy ways I told her that she 'could be so selfish sometimes'. She then realised I was serious and retreated to the car while I got the food. I think it would be timely to do likewise to her the next time I go out for lunch and I just forget about her. I just cannot stand people who are racially motivated and care only for their own. The nerve of her...

After work I went home to get changed and to grab my inline skates. I was gonna meet Rachelle and then go blading followed by dinner. I got kinda carried away with checking my email that I left the house late and reached Toa Payoh around 7:30. Rachelle and I then decided that Bishan would be a better place to go to for blading.

We got there and changed into our gear. Rachelle has really learnt fast how to roller blade being that she only got her wheels last week. She gave me some tips and I took my time to learn. It was great having her as my teacher. In the end I made great strides(pun intended) and was able to move around quite well, for a beginner that is. I did almost fall a number of times. The best was when we both were speeding round a downward bend, and we both held on to one another and somehow fell in a heap. We seemed to enjoy falling on one another very much. Thank you.

After that we drove over to Prata King for dinner. Rachelle ordered the Garlic/Cheese prata and I being ever adventurous ordered the banana prata and honey prata. The banana was fine but the honey one was a tad too sweet for my liking. Chatted quite a bit there.

After our meal, I drove over to Bishan where Rachelle scouted the Coffee Bean if it was still open. It closed at 1230 am so Rachelle called me on my mobile and I parked at the multi-storey car park opposite Junction 8 before joining her at Coffee Beans.

I had ordered the Malibu Dream again. Rachelle had an ice blended mocha with cinnamon powder. We chatted for over an hour and we read a magazine together (mostly her than me).

Sent her home.

Went home.

Have to do it again... blading... dinner... coffee.... etc...

Agnes of God

We had our departmental welfare dinner at Peck Seah Street. The dinner was fairly ordinary but they had lotsa dishes and you could order as much as you wanted which kinda made up for it.

Of course the best part was seeing Agnes again. Been quite a while since we last met up. She had the uneviable task of sitting next to the old bag Mrs Yong. She smartly chose to sit with us instead. Unfortunately for her Lily joined our table and ended up sitting directly opposite of Agnes which really put a damper on the proceedings. You could almost cut the tension at times with a knife. Agnes suddenly became all subdued and did not speak much throught dinner.

Initially we had planned to go out for some drinks after dinner together as a group but that idea was squashed as we had to go over to Mr Wong's father-in-laws place and pay our condolences etc. We made a date for 4th Feb to meet up again. Ko Koh,Ai Khim and Cheng joined us (Hasli and I) in my car and I drove over to Toa Payoh where the wake was held. We spent more time than expected than I had planned. After that Cheng took leave of us and took a bus home. I dropped Ko Koh at the bus stop near the Toa Payoh MRT and then sent Ai Khim to Ang Mo Kio MRT.

Sent Hasli home.

Chauffeur duties completed...I went home....
