Day 2 of Year 2004

Had a talk with Khim, my annual Work Review, and it made me come to the conclusion that there is no point in me hanging around anymore. She and I do not share the same philosophy's, priorities and goals. Furthermore she has many grudges against me for things that are not really my fault actually (which I will not go into detail here...yet). The ultimatum I have is to either adapt to her 'management' style or do something else. I told her in no uncertain terms that I would rather resign or be transfered out than have to work under these conditions. The last few months have been a rather depressing time for me at work. I have not been eating or sleeping well. Of all the downs of 2003 I think that the problems at work really took the cake. It was as though someone came along and killed your dog...repeatedly!

I sms'ed Noel today regarding the air pump for the sofa (do not ask me to clarify :P)and he replied that he was having a terrible day. It happened that He and Paula had a disagreement. Today being their 1 year anniversary, Paula was expecting Noel to come pick her up from the airport this morning.Noel overslept (again?) and Paula said that she was very disappointed in him. Just before Paula went on her long-haul flight she had told Noel that she feels that she and Noel were not compatible. It seems that now Paula wants to break off the relationship and move out. Noel being the emotional person he is will have a hard time coping. I really like Paula and treat her almost like my sister. It will be a real pity to see her go (especially so soon after Joyce left ). There are many parallels between their situation and what had happened between me and Joyce. I can only hope they resolve this as soon as possible. Otherwise there will be more than one frowning dude in the house tonight.

New Year's Day

It is New Years Day. The first day of the new year. At least that is what they say. If I remember they said the same thing around the same time last year as well. Anyway 2004 is still relatively new (only 20 hrs old at this writing). By this time tomorrow it will start to show it's age and will be a toddler year or something.Enough nonsensical rambling for now.

Good old Nads when for her op and seems fine now. Have yet to meet up with her. Maybe it is because she has been preoccupied with stuff. A muffin can do that to you sometimes (hot fudge brownies too).

New Years Eve was spent at home. More precisely in my room. Mum and dad were home as well. Noel was out somewhere (no idea where though),got the parents all worried when he was uncontactable till this afternoon. Did not even SMS mum to greet her when the clock turned. Talk about imagining the worst...

Just watched Jewel's latest music video. She still sounds as great as ever...and more importantly..she looks great!

The record for earliest New Years greeting goes to (drumroll).....Niki. She holds the record of 24 hours. She sent her ....... errmm...'advanced greetings' at 12.01 am on the 31st.

The latest New Years Greeting award goes to Miss Ong Ai Khim at a mind-blowing 12 hours and 4 minutes after the fact. (akes me wonder if 12 is an auspicious number or something.)

Best New Years Greeting: Joyce with her graphic starry thingy sms greeting. Kinda looks like stars (or maybe hearts..).Whatever it is....it was a hit with all the people I forwarded it to.

Most Depressing New Years Greeting: Maybel with her 'jus came home with frustration.....irritations...hunger ....tears...' sms.Apparently she was kinda upset with some of her friends because they had invited her to a chalet that never was and she had to wait a long time for them to turn up. She went home in tears. Little old me became the agony aunt....

New Years Piggy Award: Lyn. She stayed home and slept by 11 plus. She did however SMS me again at 5.52 am. Had just woken up and sent me her NY greetings. My most favourite person to awaken me from my slumber at 5 am.

Spent most of today at home. Mum made spagetti for lunch. I sms'ed Joyce to go somewhere today. Joyce was already having lunch with her mum and wanted to watch her VCD's. I did however get her to go to the SAF Yacht Club for dinner with me. Nice place with a great view of the Johore Straits. Better in the day. But not too shabby at night with the lights and all. After that we drove to Bottle Tree Grove. It is still under construction but looks good. We also checked out the Park Connector to Yishun. After that I sent her home. We made plans to go watch Mona Lisa Smile sometime next week. Joyce is a Julia Roberts fan from her Pretty Woman days.
*****
disclaimer: Leon and Joyce are still not back together despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
